Did they add something to classic wow?

I fixed my old notebook 2009 and updated its HDD,RAM and also upgraded its CPU. When this computer was new and running windows 7/8 it had no issues running old wow. After I gave it life again thought I could at least play burning crusade/vanilla on it, but this go around its not doing as well. So just wonder if its something they added to classic that its choppy this go around? Or do I need to have it running windows 7/8 instead of 10? So just wonder if anyone ran into this issue. And if I need to get the right direct x for it to run.

I play WoW on my desktop retail and classic. Figure I could at least play wow classic again on my notebook since it ran fine in the past with no issues while traveling. But just think im missing something when it cant do it this go around. Despite maxing things out and putting new thermal paste for the CPU cleaning things to make it run new. Still have issues with WoW.

They updated Classic to run on the same architecture as Live/Retail. Not sure if that may be your issue or not.

Classic plays on the same engine as Retail, which was updated many years ago.

Your original Vanilla computer (and just slightly beyond that) would have a little more trouble handling WoW now than it did back then because the underlying programming has changed.

Classic WoW was basically “made to work” on the Retail programming.

would make sense had a little hope when my imac about the same age has no issue’s running classic wow and its running windows 10. Guess thats the different s my notebook is running with a intel HD onboard graphics. Then my imac had a radeon on board. Now kind of wonder if I should play with a hackentosh on my notebook since it is intel base and the mac OS can play with my notebook system setup. But its just a theory. Oh well at least my desktop rig has no issue’s just a bummer I couldn’t get my notebook to play even after maxing out the system.

I was fearing that. It worked well during my greyhound days and can only play on the go from 2010 to 2015. Just find it funny how they tried to keep with the spirit of classic wow. When they banned or stopped some addons to build groups was hoping they kept the old programming to allow toaster computers to play it. But guess even a classic got a overall to make a newer video card required to play.
