Is that something we just moved last?
Nope, still happening in the open world
No they didn’t fix anything.
This game is infested with teleport hackers appearing out of thin air on top of black lotus.
The server I play on (Felstriker) is what most would call a “dead” server, and even when you are completely alone in the zone it is still IMPOSSIBLE to pick a lotus if a single bot is there also, (which they are, 24/7).
They currently use lvl 15 hunter scout bots that constantly scan the zone for lotus, as soon as it’s been detected a teleport bot thats hidden someone will immediately teleport there and loot it.
The sad thing is, we report the hell out of them because we are a small server and they are very obvious here, but the bans come so slowly they might as well not happen at all.
All loot the bot gets it keeps, as all the items are mailed to safe alts that don’t get banned.
As soon as a banwave does happen, they are back the next day since they’ve had so much time to prep back up bots.
I also play on a mega server and when I /who the zones there there are multiple of these teleporter bots in each zone, but I think most players don’t realise how bad it is since there are so many players that they almost blend in.
It’s actually disgusting how little blizzard does to address this problem, literally 1 GM working a normal 40 hour work week could eliminate 95% of the bots on every server and be a major deterrent but blizzard does LITERALLY NOTHING.
I actually have come to believe blizzard is somehow associated with these gold farming operations and somehow gets a cut of the profits and allows them to operate
Everything they tell us about banning bots is nothing but lies to keep the masses quiet and content, I bet if we were to know the truth about the botting mafia it would be some shady corrupt business involving blizzard.
This is an old video, they no longer need to die and res ontop of the lotus, they can just teleport right ontop of it alive now.
I’m in a bot busting discord and video like these are captured daily and sent to blizzard, but almost nothing is done.
To fix this there they would have to add server side verification to all position/movement changes for every player character in the game world. That uses up a lot more compute power than you might think. So they probably won’t do anything about it, as it would force them to actually address overpopulation of servers. Which they’ve proven several times they have no intention of doing.
So just nothing. That’s actually not an acceptable move but the obvious one.
I still don’t understand how it is possible. No-one is changing the code on the server. Doesn’t changing an object’s position on the server requires sending a “move this” command to the server?
Is there a “teleport” command a client can send? Is there a “fly” command? Can clients send these commands to the server? If so, the “hack” is players using commands they shouldn’t. Blizzard can catch the hack by monitoring these commands.
But I don’t believe “I saw it”. We don’t see real things. There ARE no real things. We HAVE no cameras to see things. We see pixels that our client program creates. What does that mean? That the client program is bugged? That the server is bugged, and the client is confused? I don’t know.
I’m sure there is a “bug” or a “hack” or something. I just can’t figure out what it is. I’m only sure it isn’t something “real” we are “seeing”.
Very minor compute required. Private servers do this to check player speed and movements in DB and its extremely minor CPU impact.
Yes there are. The program to do so has been linked and even videos showing it in action have been linked numerous times. There are literally videos showing the program and characters teleporting from the actual desktop of the cheater.
Blizzard doesn’t care.
I’ve been out of the game for a long time so I dunno how they are doing it these days. The old ways were to use a packet sniffer to modify data sent to server. But modern games probably won’t fall for that anymore.
Or you know, hire GMs.
What the hell am I paying $15 a month for?
The CEOs 10th yacht. No room in the budget to pay for things that would improve the players experience
Your 15$ a month goes into designing new sparkle pony flying dragon bug rabbit ship mounts on retail.
