I just logged in after the new patch. I was not offered the quest “The Land Beneath” and there does not seem to be a way to manually pick it up.
As such, I cannot go to the new zone or do any new content.
I also tried swapping to an alt and my alt also did not get offered the quest.
I had this same problem, although when I logged into an alt it did give it to me.
*Edit: I thought I had it fixed but now I don’t think so.
I’m still having the problem too. Alts can get it but logging into my main shows nothing. If I hit Escape, click What’s New, is shows me Patch 10.1.0 screen but does not offer the quest.
I cannot get any quests for the new zone on any character.
Have you checked your adventure log?

Same here. None of my characters received the quest upon logging in.
You have to complete the 10.0.7 storyline I guess. Did you do that? (Read the comment on the below article)
So I didn’t receive the quest either on any character. I don’t recall anybody saying a damn thing about having to complete that forbidden reach crap before being able to pick up this quest.

Thanks all, that got it going for me. I guess it should have been obvious but it would have taken me a long time to figure it out!
I’d like some kind of clarification on what “finish the campaign quests” means because all my toons besides my main have done the exact same amount of Forbidden Reach (ie just enough to get into the Vaults) but some have been given the quest and some have not.
I suspect having taken the skip (which some did and some didn’t) might affect it.
The quests to complete are the “Creche Divided” quests in Forbidden Reach which ends with Return to Viridia.
Was halfway through the chain and couldn’t get the 10.1 quest start. Finished it (took about 30 minutes) and Ebyssian immediately gives the breadcrumb quest that takes you to Alexstraza.
I too did not receive the introduction quest on my main and though it was in my adventure log, I cannot accept it. I tried disabling all of my addons, but this did not work. I did, however, receive the introduction quest on all of my alts, even those that have not completed the previous campaigns. One thing I did do was watch the introduction cinematic as I logged in on my main. This cinematic was not played on any of my alts, so perhaps that is what bugged it?
I got the quest on my main who has done everything since time began and my newest 70 who did the skip, the two quests to open the vault and one entry into vault, nothing else. No other characters ( 7 70s) got it. The only thing different about the two that got it was they were not in Valdraken when they first logged in. All others were there. We are all just guessing and I don’t think we have a clue. None of my husband’s characters got it (13 70s all were in Valdraken)
I figured out how to get “The Land Beneath”.
You only have to follow the Embers of Neltharion storyline until you complete 1/7 “A Creche Divided” then you will get a message saying "Continue the campaign by accepting the quest “The Land Beneath” in Valdrakken. You can then go up to the top of The Seat of the Aspects and talk to Hadexian to accept “The Land Beneath” and start the new 10.1 zone. Hope that helps some folks!
So I don’t know if people are still having this issue but on my fresh Warlock I was having a issue where my map would show The Land Beneath in Valdrakken but I would not be able to pick up the quest. If you have this problem there is a NPC named Hadexian who tells you to go talk to Ebyssian and then you will be able to start the questline
Just found a quest out in The forbidden reach called “News from Below” that started it for me.
