Did LFD doom WoW?

Again, you make the argument why Blizz had to dumb down the game, AND how it was in fact made for solo players. Way to undercut both of your arguments…again.

I played enh sham in TBC and I was able to get groups with no problems…

That’s fine keep pretending that. I find it cute when people who think they’re good don’t understand the basics of group comp.

I can go on if you like… Remember the few times something was made slightly harder in LFD/LFR? Archimonde? Garalon? Nazgrim? Remember the crying?

And whoa there, sally. I never said I was good. I said LFD is a faceroll derp fest. Which you apparently agree with.

Cata also gave every class some way to either hard CC, soft cc, or lock down an enemy, and most classes usually had 2+ of those.

Wrath/LFD dungeons were dumbed down. That’s basically a free fact. Compare Blackrock Depths to Halls of Iron.

The dungeons had to avoid any truly difficult mechanics, because you were thrown in there with randoms, and couldn’t be any significant length of time because you didn’t want to be trapped with “these noobs” for too long.

Wrath was the tipping point for WoW. It peaked during Wrath, spiked when Cata came out, then basically was downhill from there, except just prior to an expansion where there was a jump that never quite matched previous heights.

Yeah… the issue in LFR are entirely different. Mechanics where 1 person can wipe the group in a 25 man random group setting were never going to work.

Regardless certain group comps were certainly favored over others in Cata.

Favored, sure. But every group had the tools they needed though. People just weren’t used to not being able to aoe down everything like they did in WotLK. There were plenty of wipes because people broke CC left and right just trying to AoE stuff.

So? That happened in BC as well.

At the end of the day trying to pretend that everyone suddenly started to suck in Cata is silly when random group comps were a much bigger issue.

The reality is most pugs in BC were indeed pretty choosy about group comp for the same reason it was a problem in Cata, certain comps dramatically decrease the difficulty of the dungeon.

Savax. LFD was not the only thing.
Here is a list that I will make myself
1-Mobs hit harder in the open world-had more health
2-Make a bad pull and you are dead. This goes for Open world and dungeons
3-LFD-LFR
4-World quest now gives you more ilvl
5-Flying Mounts
6-Tokens_ Breaks the entire auction house or trades
7-Skill trees -------------Vanilla wow-hybrid classes
8-No sense of Accomplishment
9-No socializing as often as older expansions
10-Ingame Shop made to milk the cow_content made not for the majority(just for the cow) lol that made me laugh xD
11-Questing is boring_all people do is rush to 120 without even reading the quest
12- ETC ETC

Yea, those are all right, but LFD is where the “ball started rolling.”

LOL. When was that ever possible in LFR aside from the guy being a jerk and pulling half the raid?

They were only an issue because the dungeons required some thought AND they were random groups.

Which is fine, that doesn’t mean LFD would have been anymore successful in BC.

LFD was, is and will always be a stupid idea.

I don’t disagree, in retrospect it seems like just biting the bullet then and merging realms would have worked better.

LFG/D wouldn’t be so bad if it only automated the finding a group part. It’s the part where you get teleported to the dungeon that had an impact on the game, especially PvP servers.

Retail has this massive world to explore and quest in, with stories and lore to learn about, and every bit of it has no purpose anymore. I level alts and see only a few zones, I can skip entire expansions.

LFG would be better as a group finding tool so you can go out into the world and play while trying to find a group; then meet up at the location. Because sitting in a capital for an hour trying to find a group to do a specific dungeon isn’t any better than what LFD does.

That would be “better”, but it still leaves all the worst results of LFD in the game. Namely, having to dumb down content and the damage to the community.

Except the content was already as you call it dumbed down, really they just removed the need for CC, at the start of wrath before LFD was ever added.

And when Blizzard tried to add it back, it just didn’t work anymore - especially not in LFD.
