Varian died a long time ago. Only the Ghost Wolf “Lo’Gosh” is left.

“King” Varian is currently a prisoner of the Defias. Anduin Wrynn has the title of King but no authority, since he’s a child. Highlord Bolvar Fordragon rules Stormwind as regent on paper. Onyxia rules Bolvar, and also Stormwind, in fact.

He is the objective of a chain quest they never finished for the alliance. He will be missing in vanilla(classic).
I wonder if they’ll decided to finish unfinished vanilla things such as that.

I doubt it but it would be interesting to see since you start the chain quest around level 30 but he supposed to be on the large island in Dustwallow filled with 60 elites.

Is that true? I don’t remember seeing him at all in classic. If its that island with all the elites on it then yeah I always stayed away from that place lol
This would be a cool thing to do. Guildies were hoping classic would just make its own timeline and forget the retail expansions and stuff like this could help that.
I’m fine with ‘classic’ versions of the later expansions, but have a thought they should be kept on different sets of servers so all their new features don’t screw up classic classic again. And also so their own content that was removed on subsequent expacs could stay instead - like legendary quests or deathwing flying around, or original version of lich king fight, or functional artifact weapons, on and on… Probably a 20 year project there, but that’s job security. 
Edit: For Varian classic here in the future, maybe some guild will challenge itself to make a raid and go onto the island and take screenshots with him at least. sort of like a non-raid raid. (Just read someone talking about him being on an island populated by elite defias.)
Wrynn is a prisoner, Sylvannas is a night elf and Garrosh is a pacifist emo behind a gate we can’t go through yet.
I think thats the island hes on, just looks like a regular npc too
