If Arthas attacked Quel’Thalas, well, Princess Jaina Sunstrider happens to be in Quel’thalas at the time. Big Daddy Daelin Proudmoore, seeing his only daughter under seige, would send in the big boys from the Kul’Tiran navy to go rescue his daughter.
Since the Elves now had an ally instead of being abandoned. Maybe they would have beaten back Arthas. Maybe Sylvanas would still be alive. Maybe Jaina would finally be happy and not going between boyfriends every few years.
She would be Queen Jaina Sunstrider of Quel’thalas. High Elves would still be in the alliance and they would be playable, with mages of course. Blood Elves wouldn’t exist. Pretty much, everyone would be happy.
But Jaina Proudmoore had to ruin it. She rejected Princes Kael’thas and ruined World of Warcraft.

There were other forces at play. Even if Jaina had taken Kael’Thas’ proposal, there’s still the tormented Arthas who would still have feelings for her and his rage would spawn a “higher fury” against the Scourge of Lordaeron. He’d still have purged Stratholme, “to protect” everyone including Jaina, and he’d still become the Lich King. Which leads to all of the previous things, minus Jaina’s heartstrings subplot.

also, Ranger General Sylvanas would still be frontlines against the impending attack before the approach of allied ships from Papa Proudmoore, thus her death would still buy them time to run. I guess the difference is that Jaina would have early access to return home without UnderCutting Vizier getting in the way.
I keep making this offer to the Horde - we will let you kill Jaina in a tragic but honorable death as long as we get to kill Sylvanas slowly and painfully and begging for mercy. Sounds fair to me. Shake?

I like Sylvanas, actually. She’s cold, semi-calculated, and definitely has more headspace than Garrosh in use. Tell you what. I’ll let you kill (runs down the list) Baine. He’s the current ‘heart’ of the Horde (as Saurfang is in prison.)
No she needs to have a James Cagney “Angels with Dirty Faces” moment so you Hordies don’t make her into a martyr. She needs to die in disgrace.

that’s the thing. She already DID die in disgrace. She hated being a banshee for um…from Vanilla to WotLK, and even most of Silverpine Forest storyline in Cata.
Think: The peak of the Silvermoon Army, reduced to a minion of the worst kind of butcher. Then used to obliterate your own family and friends. Then being made to LIVE with it (albeit undead) for years upon years until justice is wrought to the creature who did it to her (Mind you, I like Arthas from a character arc point of view)
Sure, she’s evil. Hell, I think Genn is evil, and I’d take his slaughter over Jaina’s in a heartbeat. But the point is moot. We’re talking exchange. Heart for a Heart. You give Jaina, we give you Baine. I’m passing on Anduin since he’s still got some learnin to do.

I disagree. I can’t stand characters that think they are perfect but are monsters. If you are going to be a bad person at least own up to it.
