About NOT Playing it and staying with Retail?
Any former Classic Naysayers excited to start playing Classic or are you sticking to Retail?
Just Curious, no Harm.
From what Iāve played its everything I expected to see and many things were quite nostalgic but theres literally only one reason why I want to play Classic and Iām not gonna get it until later. Its not for the gameplay, its not for the content, its not for the nostalgia of past adventures. Its because there is no cross-realm and realms will once again be thriving, unique communities.
I can guarantee you Iām not the only one, given the uproar on layering. Iāll take no cross-realm over any number of quality of life changes and other enhancements the game has seen in the last 10 years. Cataclysm really was just that. I just want to play an MMO again instead of a glorified single player RPG.
I guess PvP being much faster paced and not āan immovable object vs an immovable objectā is also very appealing to me. But very secondary even still to no cross-realm.
I love it. My mind didnāt need to be changed. I always did love it.
But, I will still be playing āretailā WoW. Classic WoW is a āretailā product.
Therefore, I will only play āretailā WoW!
Iāll play a classic server as my option once it releases, the testing done this weekend, just convinced more so how much I missed the old game and all its glory.
I will still visit retail when I need a break from classic.
Until blizzard decides to split the game (which iām sure they will do in the future, if just to see where there development money should go). Once that happens iāll stick with classic and say good by to my 14 year old main.
I never joined a pserver for fear it would get shut down just as soon as I got in deep so Classic is a blessing. Itās the game Iāve wanted for a very long time now.
I just want to sleep for 2 weeksā¦
retail died for me with BFA, if it wasnt for classic i wouldnt even be subbed right now
I want to play classic pvp. Where everyone just dies in two crits. Not those retail 10 minutes fights between demon hunter and warrior when both have so much self healing that they canāt kill each other.
I played during vanilla, granted it was year in already so I didnāt get to raid during it but I remember a lot of it. I liked BC much more but early BC when you actually had to get keyed for Kara and Gruulās was awesome and then you needed someone with a max fishing skill for SSC. I loved that but I wonāt be playing classic though and thatās fine with me and I hope everyone that does has fun with it.
With all the b*tching that people do now about flying and other stuff though and theyāre going to try Classic? I just donāt see it working out like people think itās going to. Even for the people that played it hardcore back then, itās going to be different. Everything is different now and players then have families and other stuff going on that they didnāt have then.
I hope it works out for people and I do hope itās successful as I would love to see a redo of BC and Wrath but will those be the same? Probably not for the very same things I mentioned but there is the hope.
leveling and the initial gearing from the end game dungeons will be fun but I know Iāll be done once most people graduate from UBRS to MC. Been there and done that when it comes to 40 man raids and all the old content. For those that missed our or are longing for GM phone calls at 2am to down a world dragon I hope you enjoy it this time around. Nothing will ever bring back the joy of downing those bosses for the first time for me.
I spent quite a few hours on it over the weekend. Despite knowing very well that my characters would get wiped, I felt engaged and motivated throughout.
Itās fascinating how well the game design wasāa reminder that my nostalgia was well-placed.
I thoroughly enjoyed the stress weekend and nerded out making up leveling guides for myself.
It allayed all of my fears about community not returning. Forums have never been a good gauge of how the ingame experience will go, and I was so happy to see that almost every interaction (and there were many) went down just like it did in 2005 upon first joining. People were awkward and silent for the first evening of the stress, but by day two, the atmosphere and the mechanics of the world made everyone jump in and talk, group, cooperate, and be generous with each other.
It was awesome.
I loved every minute of it, and all my concerns were totally wiped away. Itās gonna be fun.
Itās the game Iāve always been playing (in my mind) despite the shifting sands under my toons feet. I hope the realm / layer aspect works out to foster and keep a cohesive community and player base.
nope, despite classic having better inmetions and fun systems im still on retail, classic is not my priority, a few examples im trying to get my aotc from Queen Azhara, watied 9 years ofr a worgen fix (i love everthing with wolves in it), having fun in the M+ (despite 20% of the groups ragequit), and im looking to do more rated pvp for the mount and have more cool unique sets.
I will find hard having time for both versions and work and life (what life?)
I love no flying mounts and ground mounts at 40. Keeps the world big.
Sure, it may be a drag sometimes but itās a price Iām more than willing to pay.
Wpvp Wpvp Wpvp Wpvp, World defense removal and Warmode killed World of Warcraft for me
I wasnāt a naysayer, Iāve been excited about Classic. I figured it would be more of a ālog on, realize I had rose colored glasses on, go back to modern wowā situation. This weekend definitely proved me wrong and Iāll be excited to hope back in old Azeroth in a few weeks!
Lost interest in retail about 2 yrs ago. I did play the launch of the x-pacs but only for 3 months and only 1 month in BFA.
Classic made me sub again.
At Prozan, how did warmode kill it for you? Couldnāt go around ganking lower toons or something?
I mean you can still do that with Warmode, so that makes no sense. Iād say flying and the fact that every class seems to have a bunch of survivability cooldowns/abilities makes the pvp kinda boring.
I havenāt really played much of the retail since I got the beta invite to Classic a couple months ago.
Retail WoW feels like a Tuesday-Only game, where you just log in, kill the World Boss, MAYBE do the weekly and then go back to Classic Beta leveling.
I donāt find the Retail version compelling anymore. The Classic version feels like the definitive version, as old as it is.
I miss vanilla WoW. Itās a real MMORPG.
Retail WoW feels like an ARPG.
