in open group finder, the term " wts " is still there. wack one, spawn 3 more. did blizzard lose the war? are they just accepting that its going to be a thing forever?
They make the rules, but they don’t seem to enforce them.
Most of it is bots, so they ban in waves
It only shows they lost or don’t care to enforce their rules… Use to be they would actively enforce and let players know they are doing something.
Now it takes forever to even be told about a bug in game and the WTS has been in LFG all expansion+
Really falling apart is what it seems.
Install LFGSpamFilter addon. Hide listings with coms.
The only way this gets solved is to add paths for people with less skill to get gear. Without carries. Otherwise the sellers continue to make money so it will continue.
What war? Blizzard sends out ban waves every few months or so, but that won’t ever stop people from doing this. Do laws and their enforcement stop all crimes in the real world?
Why does it have to take a “ban wave” to remove a level 1 spamming trade chat with an RMT carry ad?
Do they wait 6 months before arresting a criminal in real life, and then pick them up all at once? Bad analogy.
Pirate Software, a former Blizzard developer, explained why pretty well so I’ll summarize: they wait three to six months to catch the largest amount of these people while also allowing them to charge back their purchases from cheat and bot sellers in an attempt to bankrupt them. Real world police do this with large criminal organizations, so no it’s not a bad analogy. Blizzard and other developers aren’t trying to go after the individual players using cheats and bots, they are going after the people making and selling them.
So there’s no point whatever in reporting any of them, and they were lying about that when they told players to report violators.
Considering the level 1’s that are spamming trade chat with ads aren’t using the sophisticated new botting software you describe, why are they still cluttering up the capital cities?
What I’ve learned is that it is not a good decision to ban people individually for botting. If they do this, other botters can become aware of it and develop better bots, better exploits. It is better for them to ban in waves because it catches them off guard.
Unfortunately the only solution is to leave Services to them and to report them when you see them in LFG, if for no other reason, than to get the listings off your screen.
That’s wonderful if it works. And it might in the real world where you get to send major offenders to jail. Hitting their wallets like an unfilled group of undergeared players hitting a raid boss… will not work.
What’s a joke is they removed some peoples ability to change titles/descriptions because we don’t have or wont link a phone #, and yet it did nothing to stop the spam.
They try hiding it now. If you search for a bracket like [ you find tons of them. I always report them, though it feels like a waste of time.
How many hoops did you jump through to get to that conclusion?
What “sophisticated botting software” did I describe? Pirate Software is the name of a YouTuber, not an actual pirate software.
Why not?
Pretty obvious that was only about mobile market penetration and they didn’t want to look like they’re strong arming customers into installing software with their EULA on our phones.
