Long read, lore intensive.
Sargeras previously had killed the titans, but their souls remained, likewise with Argus, he too was slain. Where then is his spirit? Could it have been in the sword of Sargeras when Azeroth was stabbed?
In such a case, the sword would have acted like a needle, injecting Argus directly into the planet. Perhaps, this hungering dark that Sylvannus is intent on feeding is in fact Argus, the unmaker.
In most known mythologies, there is usually a deity associated with life, and another for death. Eonar is that of life, is Argus that of death? He wields a scythe, a weapon typically associated with the grim reaper. Fittingly that would make Sylvannus a worthy disciple as she has become an āenemy of life itself.ā
Aggramar and Sargeras were tasked with keeping cosmic enemies in check. Aggramar curiously found a planet where life was unchecked and had to intervene by culling their numbers with his creation of Grond.
With no titan of death awakened, life dominated the cosmos to a potentially disastrous result. Could it be that Sargeras came to this realization as well, and what he saw from the old god corruption was not corruption, rather, it was balance. The old gods gift us the curse of flesh, which ultimately leads to our death.
From here what if Sargeras traced the old gods back to its source, which lead to Argus, where he encountered the Eredar. Thalākiel and his wakeners had previously tried to awaken Argus before he was betrayed by archimonde. Sargeras knew that he had to get to awaken Argus and offered the eredar a chance to join his side.
Now, Argus in Greek mythology is covered head to toe with 1000 eyes. Interesting that Nzoth says, āAll eyes shall be opened.ā It just so happens that the old gods are known for having many eyes. What if the old gods themselves are the very flesh of Argus? What him and Sargeras collaborated to bring balance to the universe.
light vs void is the first layer of cosmic conflict. Beneath that would be arcane as order, vs fel as chaos. And beneath that layer exists life as nature, vs death as shadow magic.
Which brings us to our current predicament, and why sooner or later we will have to end up in the shadowlands, to really bring the battle to a close.
