Did anyone here enjoy Warlords of Draenor?

Just another thread. Seems like most people have nothing but bad things to say about WoD, but did anyone have a good time/enjoy that xpac? Or is it just getting useless hate?

I personally returned to Wow towards the end of WoD and it seemed okay, but I’d like to hear what you guys have to say.

Wod was actually the most fun I ever had in wow, but not because of the expansion itself. I was on ED enjoying wpvp pretty much the entire expansion and that’s what made it amazing.

Gameplay wise, pvp was fun, the raids were enjoyable when I did do them. Really the only biggest flaw with wod imo was how much content was cut. I feel like it’d be an entirely different game if we got more than half of it.

The content that was there was well recieved. The qusting was done quite well.
Just that there wasn’t much of it.
If I recollect it was sort of Blizzard’s first attempt at thinking they could do a yearly expansion release time frame. Which didn’t work out for them.

Only I time I ever sat out an expansion. Wasn’t my cup of tea.

Wod had pretty good pillar content.

-Questing has been my favorite with treasures giving exp and bonus xp zones with each zones having a pretty decent ending.
-Raids were pretty good
-Dungeons were decent
-Pvp had some new content aka Ashran (controversial but most casual pvpers liked it, mostly arena people hated it because it gave bis pvp gear so they had to do it)
-LFR didn’t give tier sets or the same trinkets which was pretty good imo
-Heroic Dungeons and LFR required to be able to do proving grounds silver to queue which made queue content way better. (silver proving grounds required some basic knowledge of your class and to be able to do many different stuff that content will ask you.)
-Multistrike, a new stat was added and made classes way more fun imo. Multistrike had some pretty interesting scaling and was pretty fun when it meant getting way more procs the more you stacked it. Was removed because Multistrike had a chance to proc on multistrike and elemental shaman mastery stacked with it so there was technically a chance to get infinite procs, but that could have gotten fixed.

The bad things about wod? There wasn’t as much daily content as mop so for super casuals so they hated it. Also the first expansion to have only 3 raid tiers. Terrible patch release which leaded to BRF having to be scaled up. And if there’s one thing that people will not forgive in a live service game it’s a poor patch release cadence.

As someone that joined back in from after wotlk/tbc it felt fine at the time, I didn’t have super high expectation when it came to daily content. Really felt fine in comparison and it was more Warcraft for me than Cata and MoP which I skipped because of that.

In many of my post, I’ve been referring to Cata, MoP, WoD as well as Legion have always offered me some of the best playing expenses. So I’m excited that Cata is getting a reboot and just in time. Then it’s just a matter of time till the next three get rebooted also.

I actually hear that WoD was very well recieved for the content they put out. The main issue is that there simply wasn’t enough content for it to be called an expansion because they invested too much time into garrisons.

Raids were fun but thats about it. Apexis grind was terrible, garrison was waste of resources and ashran was just not fun.
Besides that, there was barely any content added from 6.0 to 6.3.
That said, I still had fun because I could focus on other aspects of wow. Transmogs and farming achievements up to Cata.

BRF was an epic raid.

No but a few things happened along the way:

  1. My OG raiding guild blew apart at the start of WoD and I could not find one that was as fun. I still had my leveling guild but they were not very good at raids.

  2. I lost interest, not because of WoD but because of RL. Work had me traveling about 100 -150K miles a year and hotels (at the time) were not great for internet. Having to wrestle the bad connection boss every week was tiring. No one could depend on me to actually show up.

I’d be up to trying it again. I did make bank though w/my professions.

This in a nutshell.

Arena and Rbgs were popping off.

I didnt raid but i heard the raiding was exceptionally good.

From what i remember, WoD got a lot of hate because of two big reasons.

Being stuck in garisons, and the fact that garisons werent even fully polished.

And how long each raid tier was with content droughts inbetween.

I guess there was technicslly the great pruning as well, but for me, WoD was my favorite pvp expansion.

Holy paladins where extremely viable the whole time.

Almost no pve gear was required the whole expansion.

Catch up cap for conquest so you didnt feel forced to play every single week so burnout wasnt as prevalent.

The first season of wod had for the first time, a completely different elite set for 2k rating. Tabards looks alright. Wearing the warmog season one now.

Only ashran sucked because it gated gear behind its rep. And glad mounts where ground only and that was high key tragic.

Oh and challenge modes were decently fun. I did get carried by a friend who knew all the strats and just told me to listen and heal. But the weapons looked dope.

Overall WoD was really fun. But it was really long and dry for too long for pve. For pvp, it felt pretty good. I had 5 paladins and made a lot of friends, and even till this day every now and then people seem to recognize me from arena. Not that i was a rank 1 player, but playing enough to be recognized makes me feel happy i guess lol.

I never played played WoD/MoP/Legion. Played the rest though.

I’m super hyped to go through all those xpacs.

I really hope Classic re-releases gonna keep going until WoW dies or WoW2 comes out.

Join retail in BFA, it’s really hard to catch u[ on old content. Now with Classic, I’m going ham on achievements (as you can see next to my name), but I still got a long way to go. I’m skipping PvP entirely though.

Super excited to just go through it all to see the game from A to Z with a proper progression.

This time around, being re-release and all, I think it makes it better, as later patches tend to bring proper QoL changes per players’ feedback. So doing it as Classic re-play, we get to have those from the get go. (hopefully). Shadowlands Classic with 9.2 QOL in place from Day 1 would make SL a really good xpac imho.

I partially hated it because the land was so difficult to navigate around, especially Horde side. You had to go both ways up and down a mountain to get anywhere. You couldn’t just walk from point A to point B without having to deal with countless obstacles.

Now that I can fly there I don’t mind it near as much. The story isn’t terribly bad, not great, but not terribly bad. I usually spend a bit of time there now on my characters because the leveling is fast.

Warlords would perhaps benefit more than any other expansion from an extensive Classic Plus treatment.

So much cut content. Whole zones and cities and raids.

It had beautiful questing and a compelling storyline. Draenei fans at the time were finally getting lore. Even if in the end it would all be handled horribly and not matter.

Light what they did to Yrel.

I doubt classic will ever get that far. But it was a mostly fun expansion that suffered from a content cycle Blizz could never maintain.

Oh forgot to mention. It was also the real start to Blizzard’s war on flying. Which was hugely unpopular.

I liked it better than MoP.

I made so much gold from the Garrisons, I have yet to pay a monthly fee to Blizzard.

Engineering made traversing the terrain a lot less annoying.

Yes the pvp gear was amazing it changed with the spec you changed to, and it would automatically boost during pvp even in world content.

So when those Raider Zoomers tried to gank you with their epic Dragon Slaying gear you would boost your pvp power and thrust them to their graves!

Also WoD was the last best version of Survival Hunter before gutting it into some ridiculous dumb melee fighter!
