Diablo Mobile: What's really going on?

Alright I'm going to do something I never thought I'd do here - I'm going to set the trolling aside and be real for a moment.

Don't get me wrong the response that this announcement has received has been warranted and keep at it bois (someone needs to hold this company accountable). But let's face it, Diablo mobile isn't inherently a bad idea at least from a business perspective. The real problem here is Blizzard have zero awareness of the needs of their dedicated playerbase. Dropping this announcement to hardcore fans on the tail of long-drawn out anticipation for new Diablo content was, needless to say, monumentally idiotic. Diablo for mobile should never have been announced at Blizzcon2018. It should have been saved for announcement along with Diablo 4. Hardcore fans would have been too busy salivating over D4 to be bothered about the mobile port.

With this in mind a conspiracy brews. I would like to think that the people working at Blizzard are at least as smart or smarter than myself so it really just doesn't sit with me that they couldn't have seen this coming. Is it not possible that this was done to stir up controversy and media attention? They are appealing to an entirely different market with this mobile port, one that for the most part hold a very different philosophical perspective relative to gaming than we hardcore folk. This kind of marketing controversy would suck these casuals and white-knights in; "if the hardcores hate it it must be good right?".

Sick sad world folks.
My problem is this. All these fanboys are angry at this announcement that Blizzard made. They said they had a big announcement in store. They gave no other real info other than that, and the fanboys thought it would be Diablo 4. It wasn't and now they're angry tantrum throwers because they didn't get what they thought they were going to. Blizzard didn't do this. The fanboys did.

This is a very poor assessment of why people are disappointed and upset. Go watch any one of the plethora of criticism videos on YouTube if you have any interest in understanding why.
They seemed honestly shocked that the announcement was not received well. I guess it could have been the plan from the powers-that-be but that's shady on a level I don't want to think about. In this case, I think doing a monumentally boneheaded thing would actually be the better explanation. Eventually one can forgive stupidity... maliciousness, not so much.
What's really going on? Blizzard wants free money regardless of quality.

/thread
I'll wait and see if it is a good game, as well as if it works on a tablet or something (could never play it on my tiny phone screen.)

It actually would then be something kind of fun to do, while waiting for stuff in Wow or especially if doing something like fishing.

The mistake seems to be the "big announcement about diablo!", thing. It would have been better to have said nothing, THEN said oh and we made this Diablo Mobile game for you guys.
I don't think a mobile game should classify as a big announcement.
Diablo is one of the most neglected Blizzard games and everyone was excited for something new. And what did they get? Diablo on a 3 inch screen that is going to be littered with cash grabs and buffers on content, guaranteed. It's awful.
I already unsubbed from the game thanks to this. BFA thus far has been an absolute disappointment to me, there's nothing new or interesting upcoming. Classic is not going to be "classic". Diablo's fanbase getting a slap in the face was the final straw. Blizzard wants to go mobile, and it's only a matter of time before they find a way to fit WoW into that bubble as well. I can't support this company in the direction they're taking. I don't know where things went wrong, but this is the end of the line for me. I'm putting my money where my mouth is.

Thanks for 12 years. I really hope things improve someday.

I understand being disappointed myself as I was hoping for more but being actually upset over a side game is ridiculous. The kinds of vile things being said just because people didn't get a game they want. It is childish and embarrassing for gaming as a whole.

Why wait? Go play it now.. Download Endless of God on your phone. From the looks Diablo immortal is just a reskin of that... In fact, when Wyatt Cheng was asked about it being a reskin, he neither confirmed nor denied. He just said "we worked closely with Netease from the beginning" lol.

So let's say your doctor calls you up and says excitedly "I've got some really great news for you come and see me when you can!" So you jump in your car and drive to the clinic. With a grin he takes you into his office and closes the door.
"What's the big news doc?" You ask.
He turns away from you momentarily and suddenly swings back around wearing fake glasses and a mustache. Streamers go off throwing confetti across the office and blasting party horn sounds. With arms outstretched the doctor cries: "YOU'VE GOT CANCER!"

Because that's basically what happened at Blizzcon 2018.

Did you really just compare a video game announcement to finding out you have cancer?

Do you really think that is comparable in any reality?
They all sat down around a table and thought about all the great ways Diablo could be monetized. I think they would have done a WoW version on mobile, but since D3 probably has the lowest playerbase out of all, they went that route, and let's be real, Diablo can be monetized to hell.

Well, they did get the gaming press to be their boot lickers and trash gamers again. So if that was their intention, they succeeded.

Agreed. The state of this generations gamers being so demanding, disrespectful, entitlement, toxicity, and childishness is abysmal and embarrassing. Sad but true.

You should be ashamed of yourselves.

I'll be playing diablo immortal, because it looks and sounds fun, and ppl who already played the demo loved it. I am gonna play it because I'm a real gamer. I play good games. I enjoy games. Regardless of what platform. Same with wow classic.

I would never listen to or take seriously "gamers" who speak dreck. That would be a mistake.

So yea, unsub. Keep complaining. Meanwhile blizz will keep making money, and I'll keep playing good games.

Congratulations on willfully being part of the problem I guess?

*edit* Oh just realised you're posting on a level 1 with zero achieves. Paid Blizzard shill alert.

You're right. Cancer would have been better.

And you represent everything wrong with gaming culture. Congrats.
i posted this on another thread on the topic but worth repeating

boogie's vid on it is pretty good.
he said, (paraphrased) imagine a diablo fan paying hundreds of dollars to fly out to blizzcon, cause blizzard said they had news about diablo, to be told their favorite game would not be available on their platform.

he speculated it would be riddled with microtransactions and for that matter, not play like diablo or even feel like diablo.

thats a shocker. the public relations disaster it represents is akin to telling customers who devotedly buy your products, to spend hundreds of dollars just for them to inform you that they aren't going to provide that product anymore.

they might as well have said, thanks for coming. good news, we're doing away with diablo. lol

thanks for coming to blizzcon!

In your opinion (which is worthless to me).
