Nice.

They can focus on WoW again.

According to the article:

There is no official confirmation the game has been outright banned in China

And there’s this explanation, which affects WoW, as well:

I hope it is banned in China. I know it would be banned because someone said Winne the Pooh, not because of its scummy, disgusting, should be illegal monetization scheme, but hey, whatever blows it up in their faces is fine by me.

What? They have different teams of people working on their various games.

If Netease loses their license, there’s no WoW there either.

It wasn’t because of P2W, it was because a blizzard employee couldn’t stay professional. What a shocker.

damn. they pissed off their communist overlords.
that game should be banned everywhere anyway.
its a shameless cash grab

Asia operates almost exclusively on P2W, microtransaction, gambling heavy environments, so why would that be the reason?

They can kiss the China cash cow goodbye.

That’s what lots of neckbeards were claiming.

That that is how Asian gaming is or that’s why it got banned?

D4 official account either got hacked or an unprofessional blizzard employee said something about China and it’s president.

And that’s what your “neckbeards” are saying?

American neckbeards were saying d4 got banned because of p2w.

If wow can’t be there in the end you will be paying more for sub gotta make that money.

Which makes no sense, because, as I mentioned, that’s exactly how most of the Asian gaming landscape operates.

Yes, that doesn’t make any sense but that’s wow players for you.

Yep, I agree.

Very few mobile games cater towards China nowadays. Even Tencent, a Chinese company, targets the US now, sometimes Japan.

China’s mobile gaming market is massive right now. By far the most lucrative of any country - but it’s a volatile market as China isn’t afraid to ban things, as evidenced by China banning minors from playing games more than 2 hours a week last year, so targeting it is a high risk, high reward situation. And a lot of companies just won’t risk that.

That said - I haven’t seen anything stating DI is banned - just that it isn’t released yet. You have to remember China has strict rules regarding things like bones. There’s an entirely different WoW for China over it, where things get… changed. For instance:

So I imagine they have quite a bit to edit in DI before they can release it, as some of the models Wowhead posted back in beta were kinda graphic for China lol.

They’re not exactly doing themselves favors when they make cracks at the president.

Imagine being such a scummy game designer that even China bans you.
