Three buttons? Wow, no…
Theres the builder to 30 (1), Eye Beam (2), Blade Dance (3), Immolation Aura (4), Spender (5), Chaos Nova (6), Fel Rush (7).
If I’m tanking?
Throw Glaive (1), Build and Spend (2, 3), Immo Aura (4), DH Tank Leap (5), Stun Sigil (6) and Meta (7).
So, you’re missing half your rotation if you’re doing it right.
I mean, neither Chaos Nova or Fel Rush are part of the DH damage rotation. Yes, they exist as buttons, but that’s like arguing that Blink and Frost Nova are rotational buttons for Fire mages.

They are when a situation calls for it. I use Blink and Frost Nova on my mage as well, to squeeze out of situations and continue my DPS rotation. Theyve saved my hide a few times.

Sure, but those are situational utility buttons, not “rotation” buttons. When you try to conflate the two, peeps just decide you’re lying about the entire thing, and go back to thinking of us as being a mindless 1-2 button faceroll spec.
I mean, if we consider utility abilities like that “rotational”, literally every class in the game has more than we do.
Do BM’s Mend Pet, pet purge, Tar Trap, Disengage, and Intimidation count? What about Assassination’s Cheap Shot, Kidney Shot, Sprint, Shadowstep, Cloak, and Feint? Retribution’s Hammer of Justice, Divine Steed, Cleanse, all 3 Blessings, and Flash of Light?
All of these serve utility roles, either helping them survive, CCing mobs, or helping them move around quicker, just like Fel Rush and Chaos Nova. None of them is what I would consider “rotational”. Trying to call such abilities “rotational” is just dishonestly fluffing the numbers. It also won’t work, because while DHs have a similar number of rotational buttons, we absolutely objectively and inarguably have the smallest spellbooks in the game.

Every class has lots of situational buttons. But this thread is specifically named “DH rotation”… which suggests it’s only talking about the regular DPS rotation buttons, not the situational ones.
DH is pretty straightforward when it comes to rotational buttons. And for players who want a REALLY easy rotation, spec Blind Fury and Demon Blades. That rotation makes a great “starter” rotation. Peak dps output and survivability are lower than with the meta Demonic Appetite / Immolation Build … but not by a huge amount.
Blind Fury / Demon Blades is about as easy as a rotation can get.
- Autoattack (should already be activated if you got to the target with fel rush)
- Cast Eye Beam, Blade Dance, and Chaos Strike in that order of preference when enough fury and off cooldown.
- Metamorphosis when big damage is needed.
And that’s it.
2 less buttons than the meta and no need to manage fury. With this super-simple build Fury generates on its own and casting Eye Beam always gives you a full fury bar so you’re always full when it ends and Demonic kicks in. Also, unlike with the meta you don’t need to wiggle around to pickup soul orbs during single-target combat. This rotation is almost idiot-proof. It’s that easy.
This is quite possibly the simplest DPS rotation in the game.

Situational buttons are not rotational.
If you incorporate these utility and situational abilities, DH fall much further behind.

Fel Rush is indeed in the rotation if you are using the Momentum and Fel Rush build together.
