what are you using for this “ranking” less than a week into the expansion? Single target pve sims? If so i have some important things you should know: First, a huge amount of havoc’s damage in pve comes from the talent “Know Your Enemy” which makes crit our best stat by a mile. The only reason mastery is chosen in pvp is because crit itself is nerfed in pvp, making us default to a weaker secondary stat. Second, while it’s true that chaos strike used to do 10% more damage in pvp, it no longer does. Meanwhile, talents and abilities such as demon hide and the hunt are actually nerfed in PvP to do less damage. So since havoc is being forced to take a lesser secondary stat and has pvp reductions, i think your claim of dh having raised damage in pvp isn’t accurate.
Also, FAR more importantly, let me second this sentence:
Regardless of what you may think is going to be the meta or whatever will do the most damage etc, something needs to be done about the fact that the spec is just strictly less fun now than any season of dragonflight.
Season 2 and onward of dragonflight all of your dmg was coming from throw glaive. So, they changed where your damage is coming from and now it’s boring because you aren’t spamming throw glaive? It just makes no sense to me. Maybe I’m out of touch.
I would say you are for dh, yes. For one season 2 had no reason to go throw glaive, you are thinking of season 3. You also never “spammed” throw glaive at all even in s3, at least in terms of the buttons you press. Glaives went everywhere because of the 2piece, but if you think that is from DHs spamming throw glaive you are wrong. You only ever pressed throw glaive if you were going to cap on charges (which was not often). The playstyle is also significantly worse because of aldrachi reaver itself, which actively makes the spec less fun to play. The tier set is just a fraction of why it is less fun now.
Season 2 you were spamming throw glaive the only thing that had priority over throw glaive was blade dance Soulscar and throw glaive were nerfed hard in season 3 after dh got it’s new tier set. If you don’t believe me look up any df season 2 dh guide.
I would suggest that rather than looking at old guides from the start of that season, you ask people that actually played the spec during that season. Maybe go to warcraftlogs and see what builds people were running, and how most were not running the early guide builds (tbf i did run the throw glaive build often because i slightly prefered it, even though it was worse). “Spread eagle” was the name of the more popular aoe build in s2 if you want to look up a guide on that (for your own google safety be sure to specify “dragonflight havoc”), and it did not use throw glaive at all. The single target build didnt either. Tbf i did not really pvp in s2 so maybe it was used there, but if so it is (again) because of crit losing value in pvp forcing havoc into subobtimal builds.
You aren’t going to convince people that actually play the spec that you are correct (you have not been correct about anything so far). So who are you trying to convince
Lowkey happy that I didn’t see DH in the tuning notes today… only explanation for that is that they’re currently working on it in more depth… right? RIGHT??>>>>?
DH’s want 3 buttons, passive dmg and cool animations. Fel-Scarred is the way, if it wasnt plagued with bugs and talents not working. Reelz you turned DH into a DF arcane mage. so out of touch with why ppl like DH, 2-3 buttons is the dream.
pressing 100 binds and all that set up ≠ skill. you can have 3 button class and use playstyle as skill.
DH at this point has become a mess with sigils and glaives and momentum no one likes.
Gut it all, bring back Chaos strike, and Blade Dance. K.I.S.S
I love playing my DH but in PvP atm its an absolute nightmare. I know my class, I know how to play and I can barely ever make a difference in BGs with our toolkit. I can’t even do 1/2 the damage other melee classes do, we are CC’d non stop by everything, Our PvP talent cleansed by the flame doesn’t remove A LOT of magical de-buffs. Its just a catastrophe atm. I feel worse in pvp than I did in SL season 1 before the massive buffs, it’s roughhhh. I sit and watch frost mages Ice-lancing for 1.2 million and just keep you rooted 100% of the time. Killing a healer? lol please… Full pvp gear with MS and healers just /lol at you with several people on them. I literally had a MW monk during a pvp WQ stop and type while myself, ele shaman and spriest couldn’t get him to 50% and he just sat there and /say “ya’ll suck, get gud”. I gave up on my DH and also re-rolled an alliance lock for the first time ever cause Horde are terrible at PvP now. Knocked out 2 problems
While we are at it, can we unnerf scars of suffering in pvp? No reason for this to be nerfed currently.
Edit:
Also, when you “fixed” the tier bug causing First Blood to double dip with 2p (?) you seem to have double nerfed the damage of First Blood which is explains why death sweep is doing horrible damage atm.
Disagree.
Having one spec instead of two or three is easier to balance because changes to a single spec don’t affect another, reducing the likelihood of unintended impacts being discovered by players once it’s live.
However, it’s clear that the DH-dev seat is empty. We are the class most in need of a rework, at least for one Hero Talent tree, if not both. We have major playstyle issues because we’ve become a buff-stacking class, which is terrible to play. While other classes get reworks, all we got were two icon changes—a joke.
By the way, it’s nice to see reworks one month after the expansion launch rather than during alpha or beta. It’s clear you don’t care about the product you offer to players, since you still seem to treat it like we’re in beta.
