For the people who don’t know me, I’ve been the highest rated DH in every single season since Shadowlands, reaching the number 1 ladder spot almost every season in 3s.
I’ve played Beta a ton, and since TWW release I’ve been the highest rated DH in 3s, and I can say with confidence that DH is completely awful currently in PvP.
The issues:
Our 2 minute burst window (Big Meta) has an amazing empowered Eye Beam that deals INSANE damage. However any CC, no matter the duration, will shut it down. This means the risk vs. reward is completely off balance.
Our 40 second burst window (Essence Break) is insanely weak. It doesn’t do anything.
The consistent damage is non-existent. You might as well unbind all your consistent damage abilities because they do about 20-30% of your damage throughout a game.
We have practically no Defensive CDs into the current meta, namely MM hunters. Every single Aimed Shot pierces our skull, and only time we can survive is during Blur which has a minute CD. Glimpse being nerfed is just so brutal.
Summary:
Non-rewarding Burst, low overall damage and bad defensives.
Solutions:
Demonsurge Damage goes off immediately. Not realistic since the animation wouldn’t match the damage, but I’m putting the suggestion here anyway.
Thrill of the Fight duration increased to 20 seconds, up from 10 seconds, in PvP combat. The payoff window for the ramp is simply too short in PvP. A single CC shouldn’t counter 9 globals (6 Souls is minimum 6 globals without using CDs → Reaver’s Glaive → Blade Dance → Chaos Strike = 9 globals)
New PvP talents, or bring back old ones.
Glimpse damage reduction increased to 50%, from 35%
Blur damage reduction increased to 25%, from 20%
Essence Break nerf removed
Blade Dance damage increased by 10% in PvP (to offset Chaotic Imprint being removed) Has been implemented
dh so boring atm to play when you have your burst window and you get infnite root infinite cc .you know you do nothing for 1min 30 sec you can go afk and comeback for that dead time dont make any difference(if you play or not ) (and with WA so ez to track dh cd ) imo WA most be banned from the game will make this game way better the addon almost play for the player is almost a cheat… and if you dont use it all another player using it have to much advantage on you (my english is bad sorry)
I’m sorry if your argument is true that DH needs ramp and therefore it’s bad, then quite a lot of classes and specs are in the same spot, namely casters.
Since you play at the highest level, so you should know this is the case, that destro almost only kills in double coil window, wind walker with serenity/images, boomy and feral with incarnation, etc. Technically, not all of these are “ramp” but the same CC issue you mentioned still very applies to them. Maybe even more so the case. Keep in mind, you don’t need to cast anything to get damage off and you can connect to targets better than most specs.
Secondly, the whole argument that another melee is infinitely superior than your own spec just doesn’t work for me. I may be biased as a caster player. We are not for making all classes the same, are we? For a while all the melees want to be DH and that’s exactly how the abomination of Reworked Ret Paladin happened. I’d rather they nerf Fury, nerf healing than giving DH a 3-instant button = BIG DAM ssn.
Pressing a damage CD isn’t ramp. Having to get 6 Soul Fragments, followed by a Reaver’s Glaive into a Blade Dance and Chaos Strike and then finally you can press eye beam essence break is ramp.
I’m also not saying ramp is bad. I’m saying that ramp with minimal payoff is bad.
Have you even seen destro my dude? Have you seen their new ramp? Have you taken a look at their hero talents. Your cry is a joke compared to there issue
