Planning on finally getting loremaster with one character on chromie time. The problem is i’m having a hard time justifying playing my dh before legion since it seems kinda lore breaking.
How would you lot justify a alliance dh in chromie time?
Simple solution is to say bronze dragon magic shenanigans creates a perception filter of sorts to keep you from breaching the proper timeline.

Personally, I would just dismiss all of that as not being a part of my character’s canon.
You can’t let every single thing you do in the game be canon. If you do, the dissonance will drive you insane. Players are constantly called upon to do things that wouldn’t make sense for their characters and it’s up to you to decide “I’m doing this advance my character in the game, but it’s not a real part of his story.”

I recently started a personal goal of getting loremaster on my main even redoing some zones I previously finished in other characters because I want to have one character with everything unlocked all explorations all loremasters all reputations I can get etc. One main to rule them all, so to speak.
I started with TBC and LK. And I’m a gilnean worgen. I know how you feel. I just headcanon that he is in those zones doing other stuff, doing some small-scale adventures in whatever current version of those maps exists in canon today.
Not all DH were imprisoned by maiev and the wardens.
Your DH couls be one of those few who survived the burning crusade expansion and went on until illidan’s return
because you’re a stinking time traveler. 
We have a whole gamemode now that basically is Eternus gathering some adventurers and being like: hey, want to see the events of this period as if you were there?
Chromie time was also always like that, you visiting the past and seeinf events you wasn’t exactly a part of.
Now, if You want to RP as a demon hunter that was in some of these events without time travel, that would be more difficult, but not totally impossible, you probably would be more like an unseen agent though.
What if
Your character lived all these events and then in Legion he/whatever took the path of a DH?
Your Loremaster experience are your memories.
Could be one of those loners that departed the Illidari for one reason or another. There’s a few out there, concerning your allegiance to the Alliance? Maybe your Demon Hunter wanted to stay close to their people, together in the same cause even if looked down upon by them.
With Chromie Time, I’d say questing anywhere makes sense.
