Sorry we depicted you as the soyjack first, you lose.
People just don’t like DH because there’s no nuance to the damage, and it’s already doing good damage. DH just sucks rn because your blade dance essence break window isn’t doing 70% of someone’s health and that’s what the class is designed around.
Maybe a rework will help, but current class design sucks for both fun to play and fun to play against.
DH feels fine to me (sub 2k mmr POV), let other classes have their turn. There’s probably some rotational QOL updates we could benefit from so we don’t need 34 weakaura’s, but it feels like for the first time in a long time there’s some actual thought to DH dmg. We can’t just spam 2 buttons and livelord forever, which I think is good for the game
Not really about “letting specs have their turn”. I just feel that most dhs are so used to doing their pve rotation, bluring air, stunning people dr’ing them into the ground and still being unkillable.
Thats not how any class should work. But somehow dhs fantasy is that, to be 123 hunt soulrend bladedance sigil boom someone died in a global.
This is like arms warriors always being A tier at worst and asking for buffs when they are just another melee in the pool of melees and not the anime protagonist they are so used to be.
Dh is also a reroller spec so its even more difficult to find real dh mains and not a dk ret warr rogue reroller into dh
Late to this party so my opinion hardly matters but I’m in complete agreement with Fran here.
I have a Devoker, I have a Hunter, I have a Destro lock. On all three of those classes I press one button, (Disintergrate/Rapid Fire/Chaos Bolt) and in 1.6 seconds of cast time I can erase a low-health player from the match, or strip a shield/defensive cooldown from another Lock/Priest/whatever.
The only spell my DH has going for him is… eye beam. I never played DH during the meta. Only this season, and if you take eye beam from the DH toolkit, they really do be feeling pretty jeffing useless. Sure you hit hard if you spam Chaos Strike 5 times in a row once you’re fully rolling, but do you know how many globals that is? How much time the oppo has to micro-CC you, stun you, disorientate you? Point being, this is an instant cast/mobility meta. If your class doesn’t have at least a few ‘‘dump damage’’ buttons, you’re like a one legged animal chasing after all these other classes out here who can just channel damage down your throat whilst still being able to kite you. And I must’ve missed the Blade Dance party, because I’m absolutely certain hitting Chaos Strike a few times does more damage than Blade Dance ever could, even during the Essence Break window. Blade Dance feels like a cool button; but the actual results are no longer there.
Also, try fighting a Devoker with a DH. It’s a joke. It’s a joke. They absolutely shred you for 2.4m disintergrates with your lack of spell-shield or notable defensives outside of melee evasion.
And yeah, edit: obviously the solution is to just tone down the b/s of the other classes. Not to actually buff DH. DH is competitive in the right hands (proven) but those players are sweating for it compared to the wizard/ranged meta we have going on right now.
Hunters feign death air and still get to live because they have 2 walls, 5 CC abilities, a heal and an immunity (oh and roar of sacrifice lol)
SP fades air and still gets to live
Mage Alter times air and lives anyway cause of infinite mobility and CC (and 2 iceblocks lmfao)
Rogues cloak offensive most games and live anyway
DKs use Icebound Fortitude on a 1s stun and AMS offensively on CD
need more examples?
Also DH doesn’t Blur air, because there’s nothing else to press to continue being offensive. DH is the furthest thing from unkilable right now, it’s one of the squishiest melee specs in the entire game, it’s a preferred kill target for most classes
And DH is super easy to play around. I queue my MM hunter, get a DH, he blurs, I root him, wait it out, then kill him in 1 rapid fire 2 aimed shots
These days u even die through blur regularly because every class seems to have rot damage, okay you blurred against Feral but you have 5 bleeds on you, a DK is shooting coils and diseases at you, Survival is throwing bombs at you , Rogues just cheap shot spam you and kill you through(and those are just examples of melees into which blur is supposed to be strong), it’s borderline useless into any casters
Everything is a reroller spec if it’s S tier in the meta. There’s more Frost mages now than 3 other seasons combined… but HURR DURR MAGE IS A DIFFICULT SPEC TO PLAY
Once again, nobody here is asking for DH to be S tier again, it’s just boring being between low B tier and high C tier as you have 0 chance against the top meta specs
So stop being a hater and at least attempt to understand the underlying issue here
Agreed. If the oppo has the sense to focus you, you’re snuffling dirt.
I think the only reason I’m still climbing rated on the DH is because I’m still in the lower brackets (<1800) and my oppos simply forget about me. They let me run amock (literally feels like I’m causing Havoc) in their backline. Feels good, but there are some games where one good player focuses me and I feel like typing in the team chat: ‘‘Please God somebody focus the Mage/Warlock,’’ because I know on my life if I go trying to catch them–I’m dead.
Sorry. Point being: DH needs a spellshield PvP talent. If not for the course of its entire lifespan, at least for this expansion. Just give us an absorb. Mage has it. Hunter has it. Warlock has it. We are literally a Hunter/Mage/Warlock-crossbreed class. Why do we only have melee evasion as a defensive? It’s pretty b0nkers if you ask me.
And every spec you mentioned is currently overtuned (sp, feral, frost, mm, sub) or was overtuned and got nerfed (dk)
No mention of arms war, ret, enhance, fire mage, even ww. Dh right now is just another melee in the sea of melees that are just so much worse than the specs you mentioned. See a pattern? We are both complaining about the same specs! Isnt that cool? We actually agree, those specs need to be brought down
To be fair dh is a very hard spec to tune to not be toxic…
It is much akin to feral where your entire goal is to exert pressure on the enemy team. You don’t have the best killing potential outside of cds and even then other classes do it better.
Defenses are a mixed bag… against the right comp you are effectively immortal till high dampening.
Dh feels a lot like MM when they are " good" every other spec suffers.
Not going to read all this conjecture, just going to state DH right now is probably the most balanced spec in the game and I’m
Enjoying my time on it very much.
This is kind of tuning most pvp specs should strive be at.
You can win when you play well and even come back from the depths of dampening and secure the kill when your whole time is sub 10%.
DH’s pressing blur when there’s no enemy cooldowns or pressure going out is a staple of the type of player who usually “mains” DH during a season where it’s OP.
And DH’s did blur air all the time and still accidentally win.
