[DFS1] New 2.4 reward, lame cosmetics/war mode update

Ok boyz Blizzard just sent some news our way and it mostly sucks.

1. Item level increase of pvp gear disabled in war mode cuz “too easy to obtain”. Ok then.

2. DF season 1 cloak, weapon enchant and tabard will not be ready for the season. Will be added later due to some unforeseen problems? Maybe they went all out for next season or maybe they just don’t care enough who knows.

3. New achievement at elite rating rewards a cosmetic item that adds additional shoulder and helmet effects to your elite set. Can be earned via elite and pve shenanigans.

Btw I wonder if a [Gleaming Incarnate Thunderstone] obtained from mythic+ can be used to enhance the pvp tier set appearance. Probably yes.

It seems like the item lets you upgrade a non-mythic/elite tint to mythic/elite quality? Like, in terms of visuals. Mythic/elite has a more elaborate set, and this’ll let you upgrade, say, the conquest or LFR variants.

Right? That could be cool.

The way I read it is that said item will add shoulder/helmet effect to mythic/elite tier set and by default none of the sets have highly visible “glows”.

Don’t think many people in the arena forum will care too much about this, but currently it is following WoD rules (emphasis on currently). You don’t get the pvp item level boost just from having war mode on, you have to be engaged in pvp combat.

The dev’s post is very imprecise.

Maybe, but on beta the sets already have the usual mythic/elite enhancements and I’m reading this as “you can use another tint from a lower difficulty and convert it to mythic quality”.

Or maybe not. We’ll see.

We knew about ilvl not upgrading to max pvp in warmode from the start.

Them not having the enchant ready isn’t completely bad, they wont make use of the time but they could of just released a s4 clone, maybe they will make something decent… maybe. I doubt they wont be ready for the entire season, prob just aren’t going to be in at season start.

Any additional rewards for pvp is a good thing.

That’s weird, all of the pictures I saw of the elite sets compared to the mythic sets already had the same particle effects. But does that mean the default “free” 1800 elite set won’t get the particle effects? The pictures most of been showing them with the attached 2400 enchant.

That’s actually kind of a nice change to further incentivize 2400 in brackets that aren’t 3s, other then just getting the title / tabard. That might actually make the elite sets worth using once you have the particle upgrade to show off instead of just blending in with all the 1800-2k players.

On Beta right now it works like it does on live.

Conquest set shares appearance with non-mythic raid set.

Mythic (and elite) sets have zappy lightning and bigger horns, spikes, etc.

So the new 2400 elite gear enchant would be adding what? Just a more dense particle effect?

Im imaging a similar density like WoD weapon enchants only on armor instead? :man_shrugging:

It seems like it might be converting the coloration of a non-mythic/elite set into mythic-elite quality? Possibly? Or maybe just super extra lightning on any set.

Almost sounds like the elite set is going to get it’s own unique coloration, but overall be the same as the PvE LFR/normal/heroic sets cosmetically.

Then you get the mythic particle effect by adding the 2400 armor enchants? Sounds cool if that’s how it works.

Pure speculation at this point but a) it will enhance the effect of each tier set and that will be different for every class or b) it will add some sort of aura (lightning in s1) that will be the same for every class/set but a different effect each season.

It probably just adds the particle effects that are always removed on everything except the top difficulty gear.

Illusion is probably going to be awful
