Why is the silence that was tied to wicked star removed? Shaman got gust of wind, druid got kick, evoker has kick and interrupt affects. but disc cant get sh&*. We got no movement and no silence, and no utility… why?!
An AoE silence on a 15 second CD was just a little bit overpowered.
Hopefully they add Silence to the class tree, though.
Yeah we will see. Shaman also got frickn lightening lasso lol It just feels like disc is the black sheep of healers in that department. We do not have utility, just fear. Holy has fear and then a stun. We just have fear, we have the least cc abilities and it is sad.
Chastise is barely worth mentioning as utility. Stuns can prevent as much as Shining force can, but Shining Force is just generally better, which is why you’ll see most high level hpriests bring it.
Wicked Star was going to be disgustingly overpowered both in M+ and PvP. I was very much expecting it would be removed before live. A little bit surprised at how fast it happened though.
Kinda wish Halo got the silence instead of its current effect though, considering how bad Halo’s effect is in comparison to wicked star now. It’s a worse version of star in every single way.
Because the devs hate priest - we’re not a cool class for the theme of DF.
Moving the silence to halo would be very cool if they decided to go that route.
Edit: but with having a cast time on halo would make that feel kind of bad.
No utility? Lol
I consider MC one of the best utilities in the game.
Yeah, it’s weird. Cast time + the time for it to actually reach and hit wouldn’t make it a super reliable interrupt.
But it’s clear Halo needs something.
Thinks about the frequent circumstances where Halo would pull extra mobs in M+
You learn to use it. Halo’s perfectly usable in dungeon right now - you just need to position for it. The only ‘problem’ dungeon I can think of is Sanguine Depths, and that’s mostly because of the bats that constantly fly by at random intervals that you normally can’t aggro, but a stray AoE can.
It gets risky in places like ardenweald (DOS), but if you know the dungeon you can totally pull it off. It’s just generally a worse talent than Divine Star outside raid fights where you want to pool your damage into a window (even then, Dstar is better if the group is stacked), and wickedness does nothing to fix it.
I would agree that overall this expansion isn’t as bad for Halo usage if you’re careful, but as I recall, BfA had a lot more spots that made Halo usage risky. We don’t know what the dungeons in DF look like yet, and I already don’t like having my positioning considerations dominated by a single ability. Attaching a silence to that particular ability is a no-go for me.
Haha allllll the time.
I actually used Halo in BfA a bit - Tol Dagor was bad for it, but again, everywhere else wasn’t bad at all. Rule of thumb is stand so it hits at the edge, and normally everything is clear behind you.
Personally I have a lot more fun with it, too.
Anyway, point is that Dstar would have been absolutely insane with a silence, and nothing about wicked halo is good currently.
A spammable 15s AOE silence would have been way too op for M+ and even raiding if you had packs of caster mobs. I knew that was getting removed. There’s a few other priest talents I’m imagining are going to get toned down a lot as well.
Also, the Evoker’s interrupt is pretty weak compared to Shamans. It’s 40s vs 12s cd.
I was mad that they removed it and still am.
I get it, it’s broken. A 15 second cooldown silence on Divine Star is pretty busted, but they still could’ve gave us a silence in the form of something else.
I’m just looking at all of the utility the other healers (so far) have, and it’s nuts. Let’s break it down so far:
Holy Priests still have fear, mind control, and Shining Force. They also have access to Chastise stun, and even if you don’t want the Chastise stun, you can just choose the disorient.
Restoration druid gets an interrupt in the form of Skull Bash, they have Cyclone, and they still have their stun. (Am I missing something, don’t they have a disorient in the form of roar too?) Not to mention, Ursol’s Vortex and Entangling Roots.
Restoration shaman has an interrupt, they have a stun with incap. totem, they get another stun with Lightning Lasso, they have an interrupt in the form of Wind Shear, and they get Thunder Storm. They also have a root and a slow.
Discipline Priest gets fear, mind control, and shining force. No root, only slow is in the form of Shining Force knockback. Am I the only one thinking we got completely shafted? They could atleast give us a stun or a silence.
Can’t this be changed to only hit targets you’re in combat with?
really bizarre one of the hardest and least played specs in the game gets treated like absolute garbage in comparison to other healers who are just way more easier to play and offer so much more…,
And that is something i can get behind
Ive always thought, that the easier the spec is to play the weaker it should be and the more complex it is to play, the better it should do when pulled off right. Thats for dps and heals
well you thought wrong. if they don’t want to give us an edge when played at our ceiling then whats the point. whats the advantage. cause other classes have the advantage of being easier and having more utility/throughput. theres a reason why we only represent like 3% of the healer population lol. might as well delete the class if they dont want to support it.
Idk i think holy pally is harder, least too me it is. Pally just feels soo incredibly awkward woth its healing style.
