Only cool thing added is demon locks pit lord spell and jailer spell. And why is doom still around. The spell blows. Has never done damage. Not worth the cast.
Aff still has malefic rupture the mosted hated warlock spell is to stay. Years of asking for it to be the DOT speck again and not this weird spam MR junk. Single target UA staying too? Why… Soul Rot stays
Destro is… just destro still, nothing changed.
Wasn’t blown away by anything like with the other classes. What a let down, dang.
Overall Demon is gonna be the go to imo.
Biggest problem I have is grimoire of sacerfice on aff and destro.
The problem is grimoire of sacerfice makes the following talents on the warlock general tree useless, soul link, fel domination, quicken fiends, demonic inspiration, wrathful minion, and teachings of the black harvest.
Than it makes demonic fortitude half as useful since the 6% just applies to you. Also on destro it might be a dead talent anyways.
I feel like it could be replaced with something else maybe the perma doomguard or something else. Remember it has a chance to deal damage but you are sacrificing all those talents for that one chance? It hurts both specs even if it hurts destro more.
There was a time before where using grim sac alongside soul link gave you a huge stam buff (and some passive regen? I’m a little foggy on the specifics)
It could easily be worked for those talents to do something different when grim sac is used. Or, you know, pick something else.
They could could add stuff to those talents to make up for it. But you are still only getting that chance to deal damage. And the choice is don’t take it but I don’t think a talent should push you not to take it. It should be oh that’s cool should I use my point on that or should I use my point on the other cool thing. As it stands it’s just hurts being on the trees.
It all depends on tuning, but having an option where you aren’t forced to take those points to buff your pet doesn’t exactly seem like a bad thing to me.
It’s not but it hurts a lot of talents you can even take grimoire of sacerfice with grimoire of synergy which for obvious reasons is bad idea to me. A suggestion I thought up for destro is replacing it with the Demenstion rift and doing something similar for aff and than adding to the bottoms of general tree a choose one talent that lets you replace one of your demons with a stronger demon that does the same thing examples would be imp to doomguard or a fel hunter to one of this hounds from antorus raid or a similar demon. This would work for demo by letting them change their felguard to a fel lord or something else of course not the pit lord since that is currently taken. Or they can move synergy and change the other talents to work with sacerfice and for ever talent you pick it adds demonic features to your character like dark apotheosis or even making you look like the old meta model for warlocks as you take those other talents reflecting the sacerfice you made. As it stands it’s a boring annoying talent that gets in the way like it always has been.
Affliction is suffering from drawing from multiple iterations of the spec that dont mesh with one another. Frankly, i think they should look back to Legion, make that the bones of the spec, then reorient the remaining talents to build off that.
This is just plain false. Doom has numerically been the best option more often than now in its row.
Also in legion, hand of doom combined with Impending doom was the second best sustained AoE damage profile in the entire game. Literally no joke.
The only spec in the entire game that could surpass demo 3+ target sustain AoE was Affliction which was one of the most overpowered specs the game has ever seen in its history.
This is true. Doom has quite typically been a solid damage talent, often the highest simming in its row. Problem is you have to manage it perfectly to get that solid damage, which the vast majority of the Warlock community won’t do, not to mention if things die or transition into an invulnerable state or whatever before the damage ticks, you lose that damage entirely. That’s why it’s generally never picked, despite being technically the best talent in the row it isn’t worth the headache of managing efficiently.
Then, yeah, in the past having HoG apply Doom automatically was just… yeah, brilliant.
The main take on Doom in the talent tree is we don’t quite know how the balancing will work. In particular with the new Doom supporting talents. It could end up being solid again, who knows.
