Because DF was an “innovation” expansion
Whereas TWW is just filler

I wrote almost exactly those same words on wow subreddit and then got banned.
Dragonflight and warwithin are very comparable when it comes to … I guess the “lessons” that we get along the story. Dunno how to phrase that better lol. But warwithin feels a lot more serious overall than dragonflight. I think the difference in the company making themselves more visible was because of what had happened so recently there, they needed to repair what people thought of them in a way. As for listening… they are definitely listening more imo. They have really stepped up in a lot of ways to do things that please the players.
This recent patch and the timegating of it… eh. Not my favorite stuff in the content anyways so I’m whatever on it. But I’m looking forward to player housing! I hope that this buys them time to make it great.
Delves and their rewards > pretty much all of DF for me.
I don’t think it’s the impatient players causing an issue, at least not at this stage. No, the pressure the developers are afraid of is probably coming form outside the playerbase.
Something more… corporate.
That being said, a slower release schedule that’s better and with fewer bugs would still be an improvement. Heck, it’s an expectation in many other games.
Again, I don’t think it’s the playerbase that the developers are fearful of. Still a recurring problem, but not the cause in this particular case; they’ve weathered that storm before several times, but something feels different here.
It could be the “new management”, who aren’t exactly dictating the content but may be less tolerant of schedule slips and delays. Speculative, this sort of thing rarely sees the light of day, but something is going on behind the scenes.
DF story was fine, the presentation however could have had a G rating.
I don’t remember the last time I genuinely laughed out loud at an ending cutscene in the games history.
Single handedly made me lactose intolerant.
Don’t think I can handle any more cheese.
I’m still waiting to see where TWW goes. Very interested to see the Ethereal world and get into more voidy stuff. Always loved the OG theme.
Guys if you really think about it Wrath was when wow died and cata destroyed the game, it’s very deep
Been a issue since they made it one in BFA. M+ design encourages killing stuff fast and efficient. Having aggro issues if your tank isn’t meta or doesnt have cds only to get told the dps need to slow down is ridiculous. If you are pressed against timer, tank aggro should NOT be a mechanic. Yet the devs keeps pushing for this slop mechanic, which only succeeds in making me hit my milestone (get all the mount rewards out of M+) then stop giving a crap for the rest of the season outside 10s for vault.
SP alone wasted my time too many times when trying 8 masks and is a complete turd of a mechanic. If they are going to rehash content, they should at least do us a favor and remove the crappiest parts.
The very definition of “Created for Nobody” slop. Timewalking fans wants the old “scale you down to the content’s level” mechanic back, normies don’t want to have a miserable time when grouped with players level 75-79 unless they play with level 10s who are overpowered as hell, and those who just do it for weekly don’t want artificial/Fake Logentivity.
This is nothing new to be fair. Their QA has been non-existent since BFA at least and that expac was dreadful, only outdone in utter shait by Shadowlands.
Delves and warbands are great features. I spent years juggling my alts and even with cross faction mail in SL it’s still the best change to how it all works since forever.
DF, and it’s not even close. S3 was the best season for m+ ever. Had better zones (TWW only has Hallowfall and Undermine so far), all the raids were fun (Palace in TWW is not fun), the world events were far better overall. All the major patches were good, but the first major patch of TWW was not good imo, but Undermine is a lot better.
I also agree with the filler statement too, it does feel like a bit like a filler xpac to lead into Midnight.
they’re both the same picture meme here it’s pretty much that. tww feels like df extended. i really hope midnight is better.
I dont agree with this statement. Blizzard has always and will continue to push their own agenda.
You can see social politicial themes pushed throughout the game and It really depends on what trend is popular at the time and if those trends change you end up with half baked confused content.
The one consistenly good thing this game does is world building.
And side quests have some good story arc’s as well and while the main campaign was un-imaginative, undermined was enjoyable to play through.
As for Earthen, you’ve mistake un-emotive for emotionless. There are a few out there with some definitive feeling and character.
Wow this is next level immersion, nice job by Blizzard
Which is weird to think given there’s implication the original plan was for WSS to be a single expansion meant to include the content of all three expacs, which would have been nuts to cram like that.
dunno where he came from, but seems like one of those that just…argues with anyone and everyone with bad manners… I find engaging with players like that to be exhausting…
anyways, as far as OP goes, I do think both DF and TWW are good at addressing player needs…it’s just that TWW they are VERY experimental in my opinion - I point to some of their Mythic+ system, crafting system revamp and the embelishment stuff as an example of what makes
I think TWW did a good job giving more effort for the more casual audience, but in a lot of ways, it feels like they are playing it way too safe with restrictions in various ways.
Trimming some class abilities def killed the expansion for me - but with the amount of times they change classes with every major patch release/expansion, I see myself eventually coming back, and then it’ll be someone else’s turn to dislike (said class) for those changes.
I’m really looking forward to Midnight though, because I think everyone has been waiting for some sort of player housing…I’m curious to see how it’ll be different than Garrisons, and whether or not it’ll be better overall.
Dragonflight for me. I preferred the zones, the aesthetic and the story more. Story wasn’t great, but I like dragons. Blue Dragonflight storyline was pretty great.
TWW just feels so meh. There’s some good mogs but for the start of an “epic saga” it really hasn’t felt that epic.
Are you also trying to say DF didn’t have m+ issues, balancing issues, bugs, etc?
I like both.
I feel like DF was intended to be the “new player experience” expansion from the beginning. The story was modern Disney-level writing, and the random mini-patches added almost no content. DF had a lot of charm and potential, but it just went downhill very quickly.
But they aren’t adding depth, that’s the issue. They are still made of cardboard, but now they’re tearstained pieces of cardboard. These people don’t know how to write properly, so when they do try to “be so deep, bro”, they fall flat on their faces with crap that makes me feel like I’m watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse as a tiny child again.
Characters in Breaking Bad cry their eyes out, but I don’t see anyone complain about that, unless they’re taking a dump on Skyler White, but that’s besides the point. Breaking Bad is well-written, even if it is extremely overrated.
If you want a fantasy video game example (if a modern-day TV show is unfair), Baldur’s Gate 3 is fantastically written and characters get emotional all the time.
Making a character show their feelings doesn’t automatically make them in-depth.
I can talk in length about how they demolished Wrathion as a character in under 1 patch, compared to how it took several expansions to full ruin Sylvanas’ character, but we would be here all day.
