Been posting in trade chat for like an hour just today, and many other days trying to find someone to recraft my trinket and nothing. If they just had a minimum quantity for public orders and bring back higher public order limit to offset it would be a lot better.
I got an alt, put some public orders up and was sent back R2 items, so sad that if I want something better I need to now get more mats and spam trade chat until someone bites.
Yeah. First time in over a decade I didn’t enchant all the gear of my raid. The max ranks needing RNG to get and the mats I can’t get on my own on top of half the epics not giving crystals when disenchanted. Really useless ._.
Actually they are way better. Maybe you should go play classic. I just think most gripes with DF are absurd. DF to me is one of the best expansions we’ve had. I am close to putting it over Legion.
I like the layout, they were just tuned horribly in terms of what gives you skill points, how rare the points are, and the fact that you can’t reset your choices (among other things). Pretty much everything that’s wrong with professions could be fixed in a simple patch, stop gating crap, stop being so stingy with points and give us some more granular control over the work order system.
Crafting in this expansion is in a better place then it has been in years; people actually want crafted gear and their is a depth to it that let’s players focus and specialize as they see fit.
It isn’t perfect but it’s something I’d rather see them expand on then simply do away with.
I really like the design with the talent trees and such, I think they’re going in the right direction with it.
I feel like the sales end of it with work orders needs to be removed and stuff should just be allowed to be sold as it’s crafted on the standard auction house.
I also feel like it should be less about power and more about novelty items and appearances. But professions were great when they were the catch-up mechanic. Sadly the world just provides better with less effort now.
Adding crafted items that maintain their relevance over the expansion with options for pretty much all gear slots was an improvement.
Adding professional talent trees also has potential.
Adding quality levels to mats and items (and the resultant RNG), adding the order system as it exists (no ability to public order at a specific quality / must spam trade - good luck on low pop servers), locking talent trees so no changes allowed if mistakes are made, and adding the knowledge system with weekly limits without any catch-up mechanism are all just BAD BAD BAD.
More one step forward, twenty steps backward development.
It could of been great but there’s just no reasonable catchup method and some of the crafting ingredients are so out of the way meaning to obtain them you have to actively seek out there source and farm them or buy them on the AH for absurd prices.
I agree. This iteration of crafting is by long and far, the worst.
When people asked the dev team to show more love to professions, we did not mean to add unnessary RNG, timegating, modifiers and other artificial complexity.
The obscene gradient of both ingrediant and finished product ratings is tedious, stressful, messy and boring.
Remember in cata when there were profession dailies? That was good. Profession quests, perks, a robust catalogue of useful stuff to craft, all good. New mats and recipes in patch zones? Awesome.
We still have a lot of that stuff but its all run through the grinder of this clunky, icky system.
Is crafting relevant now in terms of being able to make items of a decent level? Absolutely. But that is the only thing it has going for it. The entire system is painful to interact with.
I know you’re just being snarky, but so ya know, this is exactly what I did. And judging from the number of people I see in Dalaran, or out in the world leveling characters as low as 8, many others have as well.
In my case, I put all my knowledge points into making a bow for this character. Now, because of a stupidity lucky time walking quest reward, I don’t need the crafted bow. Now my profession is completely useless because I can’t “retalent” my knowledge points. Great system…
Yuh Rose-tinted glasses are starting to fall off like is Dragonflight a good expansion and likely among the best expansions yes but that doesn’t make it flawless
Personally I’m just losing faith in the devs at this point like the worgen tails thing put a bad taste in my mouth at the start of the Expansion and hasn’t gotten any better like healing outside of raid is a mess, professions are a mess, multiple classes are in awful places such as Monk and meanwhile Paladin has been reworked FOUR TIMES, races which lack heavily in customisation options seem to being ignored as Humans and Elves get more and more stuff and to top it all off there is like barely any communication.
Like I’ve recently made a character on FF gonna level in my spare time when I’m not on WoW as a plan B.
Professions in a nutshell are better, but we are not in that situation, we need each other to assist each other and if no one is taking professions that are deemed useful, than some things are just never able to be made, or in my case takes days to find someone to make it.
Like you I put my stuff for my monk for S1 (First time playing monk) into staves, made a weapon, realised I was dumb because I should have went BS to get 2 x weapons. But it was too late at that point, I was knee deep in it and it was too late to swap, so I just gave up and never bothered with any alts or my new main.
The problem is though that if RNG does not give you something, anything, then what choice do you have? It all comes down to what RNG gives you. Get a high iLVL weapon/s and now you have 1-2 crafting items to use on something else. Get a good trinket, now you can make legs or boots, maybe a neck piece.
But for me, I got some good gear, but no trinket, so I made what was best for me.
But this is my point, you guys are saying don’t make a trinket since no one has specced into it, and it’s true, but that’s exactly it, why have such a profession system that makes certain items damn near useless because no one can make or recraft them for you?
