First, I’m really, really happy with the Monk talent trees overall.
Mistweaver and Windwalker trees in particular, are probably some of the best released.
This will be primarily me nitpicking, so here are the things that I think could use a little work.
Also, let me know your thoughts on the Monk Talent Tree as well!
General:
- Soothing Mist seems odd for the row 1 talent. Perhaps expel harm could be here instead or allow perhaps swap the positions of Rising Sun Kick and Soothing Mist? (Edit: After looking at the tree and thinking a bit, why not just swap the position of Roll and Soothing Mist? Much easier fix.)
- Save Them All and Resonant Fists seem a little impractical to me.
Save Them All will only proc for spells that heal more than 3 targets AND if it heals more than 3 targets under 35% health. So right off the bat, this can only be triggered by Essence Font, Vivify, Revival, Chi Burst and Faeline Stomp. Maybe Yu’lon’s whisper?
Could this perhaps be changed to trigger upon healing any targets under 35% health instead?
Resonant Fists will only proc for after hitting more than 3 enemies with 3 consecutive abilities. For Windwalker, this means Fists of Fury, Spinning Crane Kick, Whirling Dragon Punch, Rushing Jade Wind and Faeline Stomp. (Technically Flying Serpent Kick might count as well.) If there is a cooldown on proccing this, then it’s not as big of a deal, but given how much fun Windwalker aoe is shaping up to be in dragonflight, I would really hate to get stuck spamming spinning crane kick and rushing jade wind instead.
Perhaps instead could this essentially cause a little bit of extra damage upon using 3 simultaneous spells that are not repeats of each other. (Kind of like hit combo)
Mistweaver:
-
The talent Bountiful Brew is sort of just annoying. Random procs as a healer like this don’t make a whole lot of sense. I would be much more interested to see this perhaps grant a second charge and/or allow it to trigger some instant healing/damage on targets affected.
-
Allow us to channel Soothing Mist while moving? Please!
-
(Edit: Thunder Focus Tea & Crackling Jade Lightning. The current DF Thunder Focus Tea augment for Crackling Jade Lightning causes it to immediately knock the target back. This functionality would make more sense for PvP. I would like this to cause Crackling Jade Lightning to strike multiple targets.)
-
(Edit: Zen Reverberation and Accumulating Mist. These talents practically do the same thing. Remove one, and replace it with a passive which allows Zen Pulse to be cast while channeling Crackling Jade Lightning. When doing so, Zen Pulse’s healing will smart heal nearby allies. Additionally, Crackling Jade Lightning reduces the cooldown of Zen Pulse each time it deals damage.)
Windwalker:
- The talent Jade ignition feels like it should go where Shadowboxing Treads currently resides. Shadowboxing Treads would then move where Hit Scheme resides. Hit Scheme would take Jade Ignition’s old place above Strike of the Windlord.
- Allow us to channel Crackling Jade Lightning while moving with a full Last Emperor’s Capacitor proc maybe?
Brewmaster:
- Breath of Fire and Celestial Brew’s locations seem rather strange. I understand you are going for a Brews on the left, Martial Arts on the right sort of thing, but these are pretty core abilities which are currently locked behind taking hit Scheme, which is a little strange.
- Instead of Special Delivery, could we instead get Keg Toss back? No one in their right mind is going to pick Special Delivery over Rushing Jade Wind unless it does crazy damage. Keg Toss would give us a tool to pick up groups from range. It is dearly missed.
- I’ve never cared for Celestial Flames. Having a 30% chance to proc upon using a brew, and only lasting for 6 seconds just doesn’t feel great. The talent is completely optional, which is good, but I feel like it would have a lot of potential if it could be a bit more reliable.
Perhaps if Celestial Flames procced 100% of the time, but only triggered by Celestial Brew? Would tie in nicely with the name. Give us a plan to take advantage of it. I think this would be really cool to play with.
Those are my personal nitpicks. Regardless of if these changes are made, I think this will be the best iteration of monk by a long shot.

I really like your suggestions!
I think switching Soothing Mist and Renewing Mist would be a great change. Soothing Mist is extremely iconic to mistweavers but it is also completely USELESS for WW or tank, considering theres the passive for instant vivify (which I love, reminds me of MoP orb healing).
Renewing Mist in the general monk skill tree would allow for a good “HoT”, usefull for everyone, but still being a nieche pick, but Mistweavers would be exactly the same as the current tree.
The Statues being at the bottom of the tree also feel like a very weird choice… I can’t see any “real” use for them outside your main role, besides maybe the Ox statue for M+, but still I can see many tanks being triggered by it. Blizzard themselves have said they dislike roles pretending to be other roles (like how they didnt like gladiator stance or Warlock tanking in MoP)
Def agree that they put the major toolkit behind a entire side instead of just being near the start
Its pretty insane with the instant cast vivifys so instead of casting 3 vivifys and eating all my energy we get a full heal while channeling

but soothing mists makes vivify instant cast already. The passive that makes vivify instant cast becomes redundant. Also Soothing Mist requieres a gcd and to be standing still, which for the small channeled healing it provides, its not worth it. I can’t think of a single instance where i would cast soothing mist plus 2 vivifys, instead of just casting 3 vivifys.
On the otherhand, having renewing mist is a real choice. Cast instant vivify or a chunky HoT renewing mist with cast time? (for ww and bm)
You can weave damage into healing without channeling soothing for the vivify instant to make it work well. I just think of all the times I die without being able to get more than 2 vivifys off
exactly, instant vivify passive is great! My problem is with having Soothing Mist on top of that.
I’d rather have Renewing Mist hot by far. Instant vivify weaving mid dmg, but hard cast Renewing Mist when I need chunky heals.

That would be nice but make me feel like a mwr as brewmaster or ww
soothing mist is more iconic for spec specific Mistweaver than renewing mist is tbh
Because they’ve decided to put Jade Statue on the General Tree, that forces Soothing Mist to be in the general tree as well. So assuming Jade Statue is to remain in the general tree, Soothing Mist must remain as well. However, it would make sense to put it deeper in the tree, and on the left hand side as to be optional.

they could also make jade statue target whoever you use renewing mist on.
Also jade statue and ox statue should share the same node and open space for other skills. Right now its very clear left side is 100% heals and right side is tank
Jade Statue healing targets with Renewing Mist would be fantastic. Also, choosing between Jade or Ox Statue perhaps somewhere in the middle of the tree to open up some more appealing capstone talents would be fantastic.
For a comparison, some of the other general tree capstone talents for other classes include:
- Shadow Dance
- Echoing Reprimand
- Thistle Tea
- Shadowflame Prism
- Mindgames
- Crystalline Reflection
- Holy Word Life
- The Mad Paragon
- Seraphim or Sanctified Wrath
- Seal of Order/Of Dusk and Dawn
Just looking at three classes, they are all clearly power related and really powerful. Most are returning legendaries or covenant abilities, with a couple of new spells mixed in.
Black Ox Statue is pretty much just utility. Jade Statue is a mediocre single target healing increase that requires constant maintaining.
completely agree with this! As much as I honestly dont care about the ox statue, I know it can be very usefull for some people, and having it share a mid-tier node with jade feels right
I would like to note that while doing some light testing in alpha with my “ranged” build I took the talents that buff cocoon. Particularly the one that gives a buff to it’s damage absorb stacking up to 50 when channeling Soothing mist. I forget the name ATM. Anyway at 50 stacks cocoon’s absorb amount increased to 188,683. Seems pretty significant.
PS. I have yet to test it in a dungeon due to lack of tanks so I can’t say how quickly that will be chewed through.
How quickly does that stack up? And can you give a healing amount for another spell as a reference? say Enveloping mist perhaps? Just to get a baseline, since I’m unfamiliar with how high numbers are on alpha atm.
You get one stack of the buff for each tick of soothing mist. So you could in theory have it fully buffed again before cocoon comes off CD. It takes 6 full channels + 2 ticks of soothing mist to fully stack it to 50.
For reference (these are the base tooltip heal amounts):
Vivify - 11,329
EnvM - 25,655 over 7 secs
RM - 13,743 over 20 secs
Soothing Mist - 25,045 over 7.5 secs
I am wearing the basic green starter gear. So pretty low in stats.

Is there a duration on the buff or does it last infinitely?
It lasts until you use cocoon. Not sure if it resets on death.

Personal feelings about Bonedust Brew (from a casual MW perspective) is that I have always liked the skill in theory, but in practice less so. I remember reading a suggestion a while back to make it a self-buff instead that is off the GCD (we drink the brew instead of throw it). I honestly am a huge fan of this idea. If it were up to me, I would also change the "50% chance to proc 40% more healing/damage to a simple “while BDB is active your skills do 20% additional damage/healing as shadow”. I don’t enjoy pointless RNG stuff, especially for healing. Numbers could be tuned down if it felt too strong being both off the GCD and being a self buff.
On a related note, I have never been a fan of Bountiful Brew. Even more RNG? Meh. I would personally prefer the BDB proc from this to be tied to Thunder Focus Tea usage. It would align with Secret Infusion for an even bigger boost and also have nice synergy with Font of Life CDR. Also while we’re at it, make Bonedust castable while channeling Soothing Mist just like TFT.
I never really felt compelled to share my opinion about Bonedust Brew since it was an optional covenant power and was gonna go away after SL. Well now that it and its Conduit and Unity effects are here to stay, I wanted to give my two cents. Since BDB is in the spec trees and not the class tree, there is the opportunity to tailor it a bit more to fit to each spec. Blizz did a fantastic job with that for Mistweaver’s Faeline Stomp and I would love to see them extend that effort to Bonedust.
I wanted Swift as a Coursing River for a brew-oriented spec
I liked sprinting around all the time
