DF gearing is awful

As the title states, gearing is awful in DF, especially in m+. A dungeon with 4-5 bosses but the majority of the time, you get two pieces of loot at the end. The loot apparently ignores loot specialization, too, giving me strength items when both my current spec and my loot spec are Holy.

I don’t care much for raiding anymore after having slammed my head into the wall that is heroics/mythics for a decade, but my friends who do still raid, and play half as often as I do, are significantly higher ilvl than me. I have a ton of valor across my characters that I can’t spend because I don’t have m+ gear to upgrade that isn’t capped out.

Weekly world events are supposed to be a supplement, but I consistently get blue items for the wrong spec from those, that are a significant downgrade.

There’s no way you’re getting strength items if your loot spec is holy.

Are you trying to gaslight me?

Pve gearing is not convenient, I’ll agree.

I think they swung the pendulum too far on making gear feel earned vs before where it was just raining down on us. Now it’s a slog and the RNG makes it feel very frustrating.

I know if you run dungeons and raids you get your spec loot… not in WQs tho… maybe you have your loot spec set wrong

I specifically did not say WQ, and no, my loot spec is definitely not set wrong.

I had to bite the bullet and finish my 4-pc this week by ranking up in Solo Shuffle and upgrading a conquest piece.

But to your point, yeah, I definitely agree with you. As a full-time pugger getting loot from the raid was so bad I dropped raiding entirely. I legit did not win a single piece of loot in the time I wasted pugging normal.

Im 2 runs shy of KSM and still rocking an Ottuk Hide belt because i’ve yet to see a single upgrade in the weekly vault or from M+ so this will likely be yet another piece I have to acquire via PvP.

PvP seems to have the only gearing system that has any respect for your time whatsoever although needing to grind tier twice for it is awful.

I whole-heartedly agree. It does feel like Blizzard has no respect for our time when it comes to obtaining gear. There’s plenty available, but climbing ilvls feels unnecessarily difficult, and overly-dependant on RNG.

Can confirm I got a str trinket while specced holy in a M0.

Well at least a video or any other proof would be warranted in this case. If it really happens in m+ then it counts as a pretty serious bug. Personally loot should never award you loot which your loot spec cannot use. If it does, then its unintended and should be reported.

The weekly rares give me items i cant use.
The community feast weekly gives me items i cant use.
Various wo’s give me items i cant use.

Seems to be many unintended issues going on…and since day 1 of this expansions launch.

Getting some serious pick me vibes from OP

why are you whining you get free loot in the world up to what like a 6 key? play the game loots everywhere from storms sieges all kinds of stuff and just like the last 18 yrs you truly want the best gear do endgame and people ruined professions from what they was by wanting free crafted loot so why can’t you get gear? i do think they need to let more gear drop in some endgame cause i don’t feel like no lifing the game anymore but thats just me. rares are no different they always dropped crazy loot in wow you sometimes could couldn’t use.

Such events work differently.
World quests for example offer you gear regardless your loot spec. The only thing it cares about is your ilvl and your class (when it generates the quests!!). The only reason why Personal Loot works on the weekly open world raid boss, because that counts as an actual raid boss and you get the loot from the boss itself which is however affected by PL.
Rare mobs go even further than wqs and can drop gear which your class really cant even use on any spec just like in shadowlands.

Its pretty inconsistent but it is what it is. M+ is for sure affected by PL and raids are affected by GL, therefore there is no way m+ can drop you loot (directly to you) which your loot spec cannot use (like str stuff to an intellect spec).

If it happens, then it is a bug, tho dont forget that in m+ you need to decide your loot spec until you finish the dungeon. When you have finished it, the loot is already generated even if you dont click the chest so changing loot spec wont help anymore.

Yes, it is awful. I don’t ever want to see a valor cap again, ever.

Then don’t come back for season two, because the valor caps are there to help keep the raids relevant. We will always have a valor cap for a couple months into the tier to ensure running the raids are worth it. Season 4 was a good example of why the valor cap is important, since heroic raid was pointless by the second week of the tier.

No, I am outright saying you are wrong and didn’t have your loot spec set correctly.

Bro you get 5 sparks right off the bat. In the first few days of hitting 70 my alts have 3 or 4 pieces of 402 crafted gear

Gearing has never been easier.

I was over 380 before my first m+. Getting over 390 is trivial.

I don’t raid so I won’t speak to that.

You can’t be doing all the available non-raid content…

I don’t care about raids, season 4 of SL was my favorite in a long time because there was no valor cap. First time I felt rewarded for my time on every dungeon. Not to worry, I won’t be here for DF season 2.
