DF Brewmaster Talent Tree

So the Monk Talent tree is up on Dragonflight alpha. These are some highlights.

  1. New Self Healing Options. Strength of Spirit increasing expel harm healing based on missing health. Or. Gai Plin’s Imperial Brew healing the monk for 25% of stagger damage purified.
  2. Fundamental Observation legion legendary returns as a talent.
  3. Interesting new damage talents.
    -Instant cast crackling jade lightning,
-Shadowboxing treads torghast power or cooldown reduction on blackout kick
-Counterstrike, causing your dodges to increase the damage of your next tiger palm or spinning crane kick.
-Dragonfire brew, causing breath of fire to exhale two smaller breaths afterwards.
  4. Stormstouts last keg returns as a talent.
  5. Bone Dust Brew and Weapons of Order return as talents.
  6. Blackout Combo causes purifying brew to pause stagger damage for 3 seconds instead of Celestial Brew.

All in all, there is some good stuff, but in my opinion, this is definitely the worst of the 3 trees.

Really hard to change whats working plus we get diffuse magic which is so needed
There some interesting choices depending on dungeon or raids

Find it interesting you could go bonedust and kyrian ability though might lose out on double Keg but i suppose gives you options which is good

I hope they balance blackout combo right now dave still will pump. Blackout combo would be better maybe tyrannical weeks or raid bosses. could be interesting

Imperial brew will be giga nice in m+. Expel harm better in raid bosses

Brewmaster still desperately needs another short-ish cooldown mitigation tool, or 2 charges of Celestial brew.

Something more “Active” to do to mitigate damage. outside of just purifying your stagger.

This is all I needed. I expect it’s gonna be at the end of an 8 point branch, hopefully it will not be too dang awful. I couldn’t help but notice Charred Passions in there (yuck, not my bag) and the return of the Sal’salabim Legiondary. They will likely be mutually exclusive, I can live with that I suppose.

They need to make Stagger, PB, and KS baseline.

It feels like they spread BrM thin and didn’t have enough talents to fill up the tree so they just took abilities that should come baseline with BrM and turned them into talents.

Stagger is a CORE tanking ability. Making it a talent is akin to making Prot Paladins need to invest in a talent point to be able to equip a shield. It’s very dumb.

Make PB baseline, replace its talent with the 2nd charge talent.

Make Stagger baseline, replace its talent with the Shuffle talent.

Make KS baseline, replace its talent with double KS talent.

Then take those 3 existing talents (PB/Stormstout/Shuffle) and put new ones in.

So is only giving us 1 mitigation skill.

Clearly Celestial brew is supposed to be analogous to mid-cooldown skills like Barkskin or Demo shout.

So for mitigation tools, Monk is really just limited to Shuffle, which is COMPLETELY PASSIVE and Purify…

Laaaaaaaaaaaame.

Brewmaster is SO simplistic they literally had to snip the most basic passives into Talents.

That would require Blizzard to actually give some effort. But I had this exact problem with the Spec in the Alpha for Shadowlands, and sent suggestions every day and went completely ignored.
Now it’s happening again.

It’s the final talent in the middle of the tree, should be easy enough to fit into any build.

Are you looking at the same tree that everyone else has? You can literally take Fortified Brew, Diffuse Magic, Dampen Harm, Zen Meditation, Bounce Back, Celestial Brew, and shuffle/purify. If anything, they’ll likely get nerfed with how defenisve they’re going to be.

Good, can we get more like this?

Im aware monk has a lot of big tanking cooldowns.
Im talking about things like Shield Block, Demon Spikes, Ironfur, Shield of the Righteous, Word of Glory.

You know, things you use as a tank, on a short cooldown, to mitigate damge in a fight.

Im Aware monk is strong.
Im sure its cooldowns are some of the best.
It has a lot of activatable cooldowns
It doesn’t really have anything in the form of Mitigation, with a short cooldown… Just celestial Brew. And I think i needs 2 charges, or we need more abilities like that.

Without it, The spec feels boring and lazy.
Ill repeat myself as much as it takes.
2 Charges of Celestial brew would work wonders for this problem

Your comparable mitigation isn’t shuffle. Shuffle doesn’t reduce damage. Your comparable mitigation is Purifying Brew. And you get 2 charges of that if you want. Shuffle is just what allows you to activate Purifying Brew. And you can now also take instant cast vivifies along with expel harm which makes up your “word of glory”. Celestial brew would just be nerfed if it received 2 charges.

Im aware, We should have more than one mitigation skill. one that more actively prevents incoming damage instead of cleanse stagger.

Warrior has Shield Block and Ignore pain
Druid has Frenzied regen and Ironfur
Demon Hunter has Demon Spikes and Soul Cleave.

So is Monk’s conterparts supposed to be Purifying Brew and Celestial Brew?
If so, Celestial Brew could absolutely serve to be a little weaker, have a shorter cooldown, and 2 charges.
SORT OF LIKE GUARD.

Frenzied Regen cooldown is 36 seconds. Celestial Brew cooldown is baseline 60 seconds, with light brewing that becomes 48 seconds. So your cooldown is 33% longer than theirs if you sit on your hands. If you use any of the abilities/talents that reduce the cooldown of your brews, celestial brew will easily be 36s cd. You’re asking for something you don’t need, at all.

FRENZIED REGENERATION HAS 2 CHARGES.

How about if you don’t want a second charge, don’t take the Talent?
How would have 2 charges hurt the spec? It would prevent Brewmasters from wasting cooldown reduction when they have a charge of celestial brew but dont need to use it.
Tons of Tank abilites have 2 charges for THIS EXACT PURPOSE.

It would force them to make celestial brew weaker. You have two charges of purify for the purpose you’re asking for.

It absolutely Would not force them to make it weaker.
You have 2 charges of abilites as Tank so you can hold onto a Charge while you cooldown the other. This is tank design at its most basic.

2 Charges of Celestial Brew would allow you maintain shuffle with your rotation without wasting cooldown reduction from Keg smash and Tiger palm.

If you can’t see how that makes the spec flow and feel much better than I can’t help you dude.

ALSO THIS IS LITERALLY WHAT THE TALENT SYSTEM IS FOR. SO YOU CAN MAKE SMALL TWEAKS TO YOUR KIT IN WAYS YOU ENJOY.

You don’t need it and I certainly don’t want the help you’re trying to force upon me. Enjoy your rage filled postings though, jeez.

Why are you against an optional talent?

What are you talking about “Forcing?” It’s a Talent Tree. Just don’t take it if you don’t want it.

Not talking about the talent. I’m talking about your overly aggressive attitude. Besides derailing this thread completely, you have a whole other thread that’s full of other brewmasters with plenty of hearts (and you have none), that agree with me and not you, so go back to the post you started and see if you can get some traction on your idea I guess.

Ooh. Rude.
Kay. People on the internet disagree with me. News at 11

2 charges of Celestial they would have to nerf it by like 50% or bit more right now i can get over a 100k Bubble every 30 seconds. would have to be like 45-50k bubble if you added a second charge.
