DF abandons WoW’s solo playerbase... but why?

Never was a choice to begin with.

DF is literally the most solo friendly WoW has ever been.

No, you do have a choice. Improve or group. You claim to dislike grouping, yet you continue to choose group over improve.

At least so you can be like “oh, no one else around, guess I’ll solo it” instead of “no one else around and no groups/no one joining my group, guess I have to give up on it for now”, right?

I soloed the Heroic Plaguefall dungeon back when it was current in SL for the mount.

Just because a particular piece of content can be soloed does not mean that it was tuned and designed for a solo player.

The elite world quests and super rares were tuned and designed for multiple players. Period. Confirmed by devs.

So frankly, it’s not a skill issue and you know it.

The game considers them “group content”, and the numerical tuning suggests that they are intended for groups.

The fact that you are able to AFK them while someone else does them for you does not make them solo content.

Why die to elites or pull them one by one when you can get the same rewards faster in a group?

It’s like trying to solo Normal dungeon trash as a Mage. It wasn’t designed for that. The rewards won’t match your effort or skill if all you get is Normal dungeon iLvl.

If no one else is around, I’ll try to solo it.

If I can’t solo it, I will check Group Finder or create my own group.

But if no one joins, the content simply won’t get done.

And this is exactly why we say that solo players don’t actually want content harder than faceroll.

Do group content players 4-man M+ keys? Or do they have raid members tag the raid boss and intentionally die to make the scaling harder? Do rated BG teams kick 1 or 2 members once they port into the BG? Do players start randomly equipping green BoEs to give themselves lower health and damage?

No. Why would players make things harder for themselves for the same reward?

Solo players aren’t asking for faceroll. They are just asking for content tuned and designed for solo players.

You’ve just described how sales work.

Yes, every thursday, we do this. Have a few peeps tag the boss and die.

It’s good for the coffers if you get my drift.

This is dumb. Another for the ignore list.

It is actually quite surprising how many WoW devs and WoW players don’t realize yet that “solo” means one, and think that group content tuned and designed for multiple players is solo content.

Yes, you might be better off not discussing the issues if you are still not clear on what “solo” means.

Majority of the people in the thread don’t even do the outdoor content let alone solo it. most spam the LFG tool which is kinda funny because then you will find them in other threads screaming about how the LFD and the LFG ruined Wow.

Yes, that’s why they just assume it’s faceroll to solo, because they have no idea how it’s actually tuned.

I do it, too, because the piddly rewards are not worth it when you have to solo elites one at a time.

A lot of it is tuned to do solo, but it is when you have to do powerful elites (ancient protodrakes), Mobs of them (disrupting the primalist plan) or every mob seems to have a stun (Imbu) that “can’t you solo” needs to be answered with “not on this class” or “do I look like I am immortal?”

As do I, and I have soloed the storm rare mobs, I use the tool more to help others and to speed up my own questing as even if I can pull more then some, sorry Elusia just a fact of being a tank, I can still take a while to kill them all without the boom to my sonic (or the sonic to my boom if you prefer)

IMO, I think someone in charge is trying to double down on getting people to play their multiplayer while refusing to admit why that’s not happening as much as it should.

I think they don’t want to admit all these timegated shticks just made core progression meaningless. It’s really not worth it playing with others over a freemium shtick.

I wasnt referring to the soup. Get over the soup. The new storm event for example needs multiple groups to hold portals at once or you lose them. You cant possibly tell me this is solo content.

Never had issue to do them 4 to 0 one shot.

The game is super good at actually spawning a bunch of people into a single phase, that’s entirely soloable.

Good for you but you need people to stay at each portal to kill elites or the portal bar will reset and you have to start over.

I think Blizzard’s ineptitude is a symptom of the gaming industry.

They actually changed it and the guards there can handle themselves pretty well.

They’re designing the game around it?
