There is no standard of expansions by the end since BFA. You may well count each patch as its own mini expansion for how big changes happen in them. Ever since they made them seasons.
Being 100% sincere here, but how is DF in any way better for actual solo players than SL was?
In SL, I could solo any open world content other than the current world boss. In DF, I have to group up for everything other than minigames because the open world is just a bunch of dungeon mobs and bosses now.
Redeemed Souls, Anima, Renown, legendary crafting mats, Stygia, Cyphers, Sandworn Relics, Cataloged Research and all other currencies and systems might have been flawed systems in SL, but they did not exclude solo players.
DF, on the other hand, is doing its absolute best to force solo players to group up for end game, and even when we comply we get downgraded from Normal to LFR iLvl.
I would play SL Classic at this point over DF.
On an aesthetic level, most shadowlands zones were excellent. All the zones we got excluding that mid-expansion content patch one were aesthetically great.
Dragonflight isn’t ugly, mind you, but 60% of it’s aesthetic is just copying existing zones. Azure Span is just knocking off Grizzly Hills, Onaran plains are just Nagrand without the floaty islands.
But muh rose tinted glasses, bro.
The only world content in dragonflight you need a group for is world bosses. I suppose groups make the black dragon keep place quicker.
That is rather bad, and a problem that is negatively affecting AAA companies, not only WoW with Blizzard, also other games like OW2 and Diablo Immoral that don’t care if they are making the quality of a video game and depend on criticism from the content creators in your streams, only in the end do they care that you give them money.
So, how did you want it?
Well, we are already one of many who asks to improve the Transmog systems, like old gears from the vanilla that was removed, hide pants, and freedom in other gears that I transmog like a plate armor to leather or Clothe armor.
Not good gear. If you want decent gear you either need to be a heroic raider or be part of the high M+ crowd.
You are making an assumption that all these people do is kill a few mobs in outdoor zones. They actually do a lot more than that. Some like to solo old raid content, some like to solo current dungeon content. Some like to solo R+ mobs. And some might just like to look cool.
I never really understood why people care if people who might not do the same content as them get decent gear. It’s not like you’ll ever have to fight them and in the grand scheme of things, if it make them stay subbed, then the game maker gets more money.
Dear OP,
Wonder if anyone has considered that this game is actually a solo player game? While people run M+ or raids, the majority pug and that is really a solo existence, not a group experience.
where’s the gold though?
even SLands was noticeably better in that department
For everything else, sure, DF seems to be better
the only thing group people don’t want is real solo instanced progression content cause group content would die and everyone knows it people like keys more cause its only 4 other people put 2 or 3 man content in as good as keys 5 man keys would die lol. everyone swares they love grouping so much in reality if they actually had a solo path available that dropped the same loot group content would die and everyone knows it.
I think they’re doubling down on trying to stiff solo play in order to force people to play the timegated multiplayer stuff.
I don’t think they realize that the systems in place aren’t worth their salt because timegate is meaningless. Being “moved off” what you want to do because you’re getting stiffed by timegate has already killed DF content for me. It’s not just the player toxicity, but the value surrounding it being deemed not worth it due to timegate being a freemium shtick.
It’s not worth the anxiety and constant being moved off what I want to do or the random harassment to engage with the timegate.
You can refer to my answer here because some guy asked me the same thing. Why do I care?
This was in response to someone else, not you particularly. But the gist of it is that I don’t really care. I casually asked, I don’t care if you get it or don’t.
Clearly you do care or you would not have worded your post the way you worded it.
Sure, you know me better than me. CLEARLY, I care so I am going to sit and argue on why you don’t deserve something. Did I say that anywhere? lol
I just dropped it and said whatever. Go get it champs. /shrug
This was sort of proven by the fact that even the most hardcore group players tended to solo Torghast because they could.
If mechanics and tuning were scaled to solo players in some kind of new M+ or raid that dropped gear, it would likely kill traditional M+ and raids.
WoW is going to keep losing subs as long as it continues to fight back against gamer mentality, instead of embracing it.
Honestly, I wish they would bring back a way to progress like class hall sets, and covenant gear sets. They abandoned, or made them irrelevant way to soon in Legion, and SL. Should have just let solo content players continue to upgrade them the entire expansion with a currency. Like covenant sets. Let folks continue to upgrade them with anima. Wasn’t like people didn’t have boat loads of that stuff by the end of SL anyways lol. Dragonland they went way overboard with currencies so far at least. Another year it’s hard telling what kind of garbage currencies this expansion is going to end up with
And the GD dwellers for the blizzard will be there to snuff out that mentality. Even if unpopular
If Blizzard didn’t look at the forums they wouldn’t have stopped the change from bi weekly to daily world quest resets. The elitists got their panties in a bunch and they got the change cancelled. On these very forums.
Do you assume everyone against you is an elitist?
Meh. The way that word, casual, minority, majority, toxic are thrown around on this forum, it would make you believe they were the only words in the dictionary
Even if we accept that premise, before it would have the chance to do that, it’s target audience would demand that it get substantially nerfed.
Part of what makes raiding/M+ fun is the fact that it’s not a free win. We have seen that a very vocal section of the self-proclaimed solo players do not want difficulty to get their rewards (complaining about grinds, complaining that world rares have too much HP, etc.)
