Devs Should Chat With Us

That’s what I keep hearing although I have to say I’m not seeing the bugs everyone else is complaining about.

I’m wondering if they are confusing software bugs with the Nerubian bugs that we are fighting. Those bugs are suppose to be in the expansion.

If you’ve done the recent Plunder event, take a flight through Arathi sometime.

Not my cup of tea. I like doing the expansions with my regular gaggle of 'toons.

Devs used to hang out here all the time until Cataclysm, which was the first time they faced across the board criticism of an expansion. By the end of Mists, and the departure of Ghostcrawler, it was all handled by PR people giving scripted replies.

In the old days we just chatted amongst ourselves and if we could make the conversation interesting enough, we occasionally attracted a blue post.

Perhaps we’re just not interesting enough these days?

Devs or manager / marketing people?

People here regularly dunking on Ion, I wouldn’t blame him for ignoring us.

which sucks because i would LOVE to hear more of the artists side of Blizz geek out about their work. But people just cry for balance stuff and get mad that not every dev works in what they want.

Devs. We also had more community staff as well, but it was normal to have people like Ghostcrawler, Lore, and Bashiok weighing in on things here.

I don’t think that’s a good idea.

Their rep isn’t exactly great anyway.

It was Holinka and Ghostcrawler before that.

There’s always some Blizzard staff that people are foaming at the mouth to attack.

And they wonder why they don’t talk to us anymore.

Yet nothing is done to fix the rift.

They let it fester further.

People blamed Ghostcrawler for everything. Quest design? Ghostcrawler. Story narration? Ghostcrawler. Armour colour? Ghostcrawler. Credit card declined in Blizzard store? Ghostcrawler.

It’s a huge credit to him that to this day, he still interacts with gamers and answers a ton of questions on Twitter. His skin must be super thick.

Fixing a rift between two groups requires both groups want the rift fixed.

Bad faith actors on the forums couldn’t care less about that.

People also practically bullied Metzen into him quitting. Then they wanted him back.

They only want our money, not communication or game improvement.

They even neglect the so-called community council.

The forums isn’t stopping Blizzard from being gracious.

Nor could the Warcraft devs control what Blizzard does.

Ultimately the rift is permanent because of this.

There was a call for transparency a while back. Blizzard has done better. I think more can be done, though, involving open communication with the players (the actual people who pay the bills around this place)
