Devs, re: the mythic megadungeon

This is a plea to any devs that might read this. What’s done is done with the new megadungeon. I accept it. But pls don’t make this a habit. Many have forgotten, but i haven’t, that this game is an rpg. And my favorite part of the game is the story and characters and lore. I love the quest dialogue, how it makes me laugh out loud. I love the immersion and colors and storytelling.

But now you’re putting story behind mythic content.

This game already caters to mythic+ players, they already feel it belongs to them. And what you’re doing is validating that mentality. By putting story behind a mythic dungeon, you’re not only allowing that mentality but actively bolstering it. Already in the forums and in game you see mythic players telling casual players they should just get good, start doing mythic content, etc.
Because they seemingly can’t conceive it has nothing to do with skill; some people don’t WANT to do mythic content. Many of us have been playing WoW for 20 years, which means we have responsibilities. We don’t get our self-esteem or life satisfaction from loot pinatas or topping a meter. We play casually because we enjoy the rpg.

And until now, i’ve always been okay with mythic+ players having their little world, their little pie.
But it’s such a push in the wrong direction to put the story - crucial lore - behind a mythic dungeon. I mean, a mythic megadungeon re: the gnolls, sure. That’s a little bit of lore i don’t mind missing out on. But the infinity dragonflight?

Please, please don’t make this a habit. You have many more casual players. They’re just not as vocal because they’re in the game playing.

Thanks for hearing me out.

Heroic will be unlocked soon. Just like every other mega dungeon.

Wait until heroic or if you only care about the story, wowhead instantly uploads all the cutscenes and dialogue 0.00001 seconds after the patch drops…

autoqueues aren’t an RPG mechanic.

I appreciate the sentiment – and i mean that sincerely.

But it still kinda makes me feel like a secondhand citizen. That i am relegated to experiencing the story on youtube or WoWhead versus in-game.

Why? Part of an RPG, as you know, is getting better gear and taking down challenges. The story shouldn’t just be behind mindless quests of “Kill 8 of X” and “Collect 12 of Y”. You can experience Heroic in 10.1.7 if you need to, but I’m sure you could find some friends and take down the Megadungeon bosses.

:skull:

No. It’s giving you a choice: do you choose to attempt it now with manual grouping, or wait until queues arrive early, in 10.1.7?

I appreciate your concerns, but the tired, thinly-veiled insult of “some of us have a life” is an incredibly weak reason to not participate in the content.

There are plenty of “nine kids and four jobs” players, many of whom couldn’t react to a dust bunny floating toward them in slow motion, who still go in and do Mythic content.

The continued treatment of the word ‘Mythic’ as if it’s some kind of unattainable level of competency only reserved for people without responsibilities has been stretched so thin as to almost be transparent.

No one is forcing you to do that besides you. You are the one limiting yourself, and if your priorities lie elsewhere with your free time that is YOUR decision.

I can do getting better gear, and i used to do challenges with a regular group of cats.

But mythic is a different beast entirely. Just look at all the mythic+ people in the forums constantly miserable about how their class is never accepted, how healing it is hard and there are constant wipes, how augmentation is now “required” so there are no slots for them, how nothing is balanced right, how the devs suck, etc. etc.

You think that’s what i want to dive into just to experience some lore?

mythic+ is past the rpg element. The fact that it’s competitive kinda flies in the face of it. Mythic is something else entirely. So i don’t think your point is fair.

Anyone know how long until the heroic version is put into the LFG? I remember it took ages for them to do it for the Tazevesh megadungeon.

Mythic and Mythic+ are two completely different things.

There is no timer, no pressure to choose the best class or spec. You can take it at your pace and progress as you like.

I’m glad this devolved into the same ole same ole.

I shouldn’t get to know the infinity dragonflight story because i have a successful career and partner, and my mom has alzheimers and requires constant care. You’re right.

I’m sorry to hear about your mom, but you aren’t the only person who has stuff to deal with or other responsibilities

10.1.7. Probably 1.5-2 months if I were to hazard a guess as I can’t imagine it being much longer if they want to push 10.2 before the holidays.

Any open world player can hit 424 to run the megadungeon. And it’ll be in 10.1.7 as heroic.

This is the same person who went into the action bar issues thread with hostility and disrespect. So I’m not surprised.

10.1.7

This is just for the immediate release, it’s not Mythic+ exclusive content. Wait a few weeks and the individual wings will open up in Heroic difficulty for people to play through at a much more leasurely pace and difficulty

So basically what you sayin is anyone who runs m+ can’t have a successful career or partner? Yikes, fam. It’s called “time management”, should look it up sometime.

Gah. I hate it when they do that. Hopefully when I finally am able to queue up for it, I don’t get lambasted by my teammates for knowing nothing about any of the mechanics. And no, the dungeon journal has never been helpful.

It is about M+16 level if the comparison is helpful. If you know people who like M+ they can probably help you run it.

Don’t try the deathless run yet, stuff will probably be fixed that will make it 99% less annoying/immunity meta.
