Why do you think it would be a one time thing and not something that happens every season?
Because they screwed up arena points/rating for a huge portion of season 1 (and s1 was way shorter than original s1), so this was arguably just a one-off catch-up mechanic to make up for some of that. Also could have been a one-off to help people complaining about the honor grind. Once you have at least s1 epics, however, there is less need to discount gear, since s1 and s2 gear does not share the same disparity. Lots of reasons. But they should communicate their plans for the future so people can plan accordingly.

Yeah all this shows is how different OG TBC was from what we have so far. Discounts on S1 gear were far more generous and occurred before S2 even started, same with honor gear. They just need to communicate what their plans are, it’s not too much to ask.

This would be useful to know, but I doubt we’ll get a definitive answer from the developers.
My advice would be to save your points, but make sure to stay below arena point cap (5K). This mostly applies to players in the low to medium arena rating range.
If you have a high rating, you probably will get full gear without the discounts. If you are pushing for Glad, and for some reason are behind on points, then you also probably want to spend points as you get them to get the short-term advantage.
