Devs avoiding forums

Aggrend tweeted an update regarding phase 4. I learned about this through a guildie in Discord. Pretty sad we aren’t getting news here where the paid subscriber base lives.

I’m wondering if it has something to do with “officialness” and by him posting on his personal twitter account, Blizzard doesn’t have to be held liable for expectations he may set.

This is all an assumption though. I do wish they would put news for the game on the games forums.

That’s because this place is so dumbfoundingly toxic that it’s actually just best to avoid if you’re trying to work on a game. In reality the game is pretty great, people here just want to get spoonfed dopamine, but don’t realize part of having fun in an MMORPG is creating it yourself, something the forum dwellers are fully incapable of.

Two things.

1st - People are still very toxic on those social media platforms he post on.

2nd - They can lock an announcement on here and not have their post littered with trash comments. I’m not sure social media platforms give them as much control across the board as their own forums would.

Yes yes, Twitter/X is devoid of all toxicity.

These are the official forums where paid subscribers are actively checking for news and updates. To post those on a third party platform just seems like a slap in the face to the consumer. Even if it’s unofficial, it could be commented somewhere on the dozens of posts inquiring about the state of the game. The devs have no presence here.

it just seems extra toxic to them because they cant tell the difference between a disappointed fan giving criticism and a troll, because they are never wrong in their choices, they are gods, and how dare anyone hurt their feelings for telling them otherwise, and blizz fanboi shills will support that saying they don’t deserve to be aBuSeD, online, in an internet forum, where they have full control, lmao. Just makes them look weak minded tbh when they can just lock announcement posts or literally ignore mean comments.

It’s about reach and ease of access… way more people use twitter than these forums anyway. Also people get their news from wohead mostly as it’s aggregates everything and you don’t have to look thru forums to find some random blue post. people just come here to complain, I wouldn’t look at it either if I was a dev

Oh shush these forums suck.

I see your name.

They see your name.

Good enough reason to not listen to you.

they’ve been doing that for years. Devs job is not posting on forums, that’s CM stuff. The forums are empty anyway not many people check them not to mention this is a mental ward with the benefits of anonymity.

I have accounts on those toxic social media garbage dump platforms, but I would rather they post statements about the game here first.

You sure? The first time they said anything it went on for like 4000 posts about how bad they are and how broken the game was off the bat.

1 hotfix for a quest in the last month was posted officially here. I’m beyond disappointed to say the least.

Twitter has higher engagement metrics. The WoW forums do not. Simple as.

Ironically the best place to post information about WoW is on a site with higher user interaction, like twitter.

Care to provide the update? Not all of us use X.

I try to limit my social media presence and have never found that platform to be particularly interesting.

Curious what he had to say though.

it must be so stifling to be Aggrend and only having one browser tab. I have 50-something tabs open – across three different browsers – which allows for very smooth switching between all my favorite world wide web sites.

His tweet read: “Figured I’d repost for a bit more reach. Yes, PTR is coming soon and the Phase 4 news is going to start ramping up next week. Really appreciate the patience.” In response to someone tweeting at him regarding a recent Wowhead post.

Basically, the devs could very easily post something here stating that Phase 4 information will be coming out next week, just as they did with their insanely vague developer post from 19 days ago.

You can list Twitter followers on your next resume… blizzard forum trolls, not so much.
