Devourer stat question issue

So I know we are primary intellect.

So this is where I get confused and my situation. I have a weapon that is higher ilvl, higher adventure rating and has higher intellect and a few other stats. But the weapon has lower DPS.

Thats where im confused. Usually higher dps is better but this gear is what I said.

The damage per second on the tooltip is completely pointless as a stat for Devourer. That’s the damage the weapon does while doing autoattacks, and we don’t do any of those.

As a general rule of thumb, equip always the highest ilvl, but if you want an exact answer, sim yourself using raidbots.

No that helps out. I thought thats what it was. Still makes it confusing on the ingame for this spec. I understand what you mean and that helped alot.

Yeah it’s a bit odd and this is the first spec it’s really happened on.

Typically bliz draws a very clear line between what’s a caster weapon and what’s a melee weapon. Int weapons always have very low weapon damage to dissuade players from all wanting the same weapons from XYZ content.

However, bliz decided that because warglaives are iconic to DH (And there is a super cool warglaive from the last boss of the raid) that all warglaives would be both intellect and agility weapons. So if you have a warglaive, it’ll be good for havoc and devourer.

However, devourer can also use caster weapons. Namely 1h axes and swords that are explicitly caster only weapons. These don’t have agility and have much lower weapon damage than any warglaives a devourer could use.

I say we riot until blizzard lets us use staves and polearms so I get a cool scythe.
