Am I the only person to see a similarity between Devourer DH and FF 14’s Red Mage?
What’s funny to me is that I like the style in WoW, but never liked that style in FF; maybe it’s a byproduct of the combat system there.
Just wondering.

i really thought it resembled ff14s reaper, both aesthetically and gameplay.
visually its melee strikes and scythes, as well as collapsing star, are remarkably similar to some of reapers ff14 spells, and their sound effects too.
and as far as gameplay, reaper utilized a series of building guages and charges which ramp up until that resorts into a brief, furious window of super mode empowerment where you try to unleash as much as you can as fast as you can, lasting about 10 seconds or so
Collapsing Star is just the Reaper’s Communio, but implemented in a way that’s a lot worse.
Have they fixed up devourer a little bit and made it less painful to level?
Red Mage is a melee ranged hybrid.
Devourer is a melee with a large range on its abilities.
It’s like reaper and red mage had a baby.
It’s definitively a caster.
Probably not, but the addition of Heirloom Warglaives will make Chromie-time leveling in pre-DH areas a lot easier. It’s the one heirloom I would definitely pay to be useful to level to max.
say what now
yeah, when i tried out devouerer, especially the melee build, i just felt like i was playing a really dumbed down version of ff14s reaper. the similarities in the melee devourers scythe combos are just too uncanny
