Im trying to up my game for solo shuffle(the 3v3 thingy)
To get the 1800 rating elite glad mog ..
Im gonna reach it sooner or later ..
But here is the help i need .. I want to get there without making other people suffer losses they should have won but being paired with old me made them lose rating .. Im often the main kill target and can only last so long using 2xblur , 2ximmo , cc . etc)
Im using icy veins pvp guide .. with few modification due to shift being my main way to avoid full bursts ..
Im using mostly 276-289 pve gear outside weapons and trinkets … What can i do beside boosting my vers up ?
The main way you should be avoiding bursts is with glimpse from vengeful retreat. To the point where even when playing annihilator you should still talent into hungering slash almost entirely for the reset of vengeful retreat.
The author will probably be along shortly but https://www.youtube.com/@vismvp/videos this guy has some great videos on getting better at devourer.
Basically peep my guide, or any of my analysis vids to see how you can look at each game. Otherwise if you want VODs to watch you can see any of my games at https://www.twitch.tv/vismvp
If you’re just wanting 1800 I’d honestly just focus heavily on learning how to maximize your damage and focus on not being over aggressive, figure out what you’re able to reliably kill as Void Scarred and look at just repeatedly doing that. For 1800 you can get away with being completely psycho in damage as long as you get comfortable doing the damage.
Anything beyond that you’re going to need to learn how to glimpse well, along with positional choices. If you have vods or games you want me to review you can post it in my Coaching VODs channel in my disc; https://discord.com/invite/V4Pj9xSxbj and I can take a look at it when I have some time to see what you need to look at working on.
It’s also worth mentioning I was asked to do a fresh devourer grind and post stuff related to that, so you’ll also be able to get an idea of how I brute force my way out of lower mmr games and be able to replicate it. (Just gotta finish leveling this god forsaken char)
I also see why after playing VS for a few … now the patch tmr kinda scares me cuz .. i didnt feel super OP using my 1shot combo(that actually rarely worked) … i can manage the pve nerf .. but the pvp one feels … bad since i never reached that point of dmg
Also how does armory and in-game be so different .. armory says i got a 90% winrate but its actually like 48% wr in-game …168 rounds played , 78 rounds won …
I think even after the huge nerf tomorrow i would be surprised if falling star is better. Its too easy to lock down and invalidate.
DH as a class is kinda meh next patch i wouldnt be surprised if they do more balancing afterwards. The balancing this whole expansion has been all over the place and generally terrible
Generally speaking the nerf to voidsurge was to be expected, but the damage will only be painful for lower skilled players & lobbies.
As you play better and more consistently, you’ll still kill in the same sequences.
Armoury is buggy. Use seramate for more accurate info.
Void Scarred will remain the best tree, purely because of hunt & voidblade resets.
There is an alternative build that I lovingly call Clown Build, and it’s effectively a caster burst combo build with precog. Lots of fun, big damage after Eradicate changes.
Really? outside of this one build that heavily relies on Vengeful Retreat immunity\damage reduction and the one shot i dont know if demon hunter is insane right now. At least i havent really seen any caster build DH or melee DH at all…. maybe they are at higher rating.
As soon as blizz nerfs vengeful retreat damage reduction and kills the one shot i dont know if its going to be as insane. Its a ton of weight on a few things and if it loses those it doesnt have anything to fall back on unlike rogue\mage which has infinite cc or specs with anti heal. I guess that is my issue with specs without anti heal or spammable CC, you remove damage\burst and they just fall out of the bracket.
I’m EXTREMELY casual on mine so take this with a grain of salt, mostly messing around and finding what works the best and playing with talents so idc about w/l, I’m just here because I’m a glutton for punishment.
Both the anni build for star using long meta, and void-scarred for melee are viable. Anni may be better with the void-scarred nerfs coming today. Granted, I get far more wins playing anni than void-scarred anyway. Roots are the demise of DH, but running anni as a typical caster, roots aren’t as big of a deal.
There is a ton of mobility, just has to be used right to survive. If you keep glimpse off CD it gives you a way to dodge CC or damage for a brief moment, also be careful wasting your shift so you have a way to get away from melee or LOS big casts.
When it comes to dropping stuff, we don’t have a MS, so using Meta requires a bit more timing than just smashing a ‘go button’ that every other class has. Its much easier in SS than it is in 2s running a caster build, and even then, in 2s with being one of the only classes without a MS your kills come later in the match when healing CDs/Defensives are out of sync with our meta which can come pretty quick if you don’t overcap souls/fury.
Nerfs won’t make CStar Annihilator better by any means, stars aren’t doing high enough damage to make them worthwhile unless you can get extended periods of time where you’ll get multiple off, and that’s unfortunately just not the pace PVP is running at currently.
But by no means is it not viable. If it’s your comfort to play it, then power to you, but from a measurement of which will give the most success when played optimally, VS will still push you far higher than Cstars can at present.
So the only caveat to the whole 2s thing, while not having MS, we actually dampen harder than most comps at present if you’re considering healer/dps vs healer/dps. Since games already start in dampening, your metas are far more impactful than they would be in shuffle, much earlier.
2s are also a really weird game right now, because comps like frost mage/hpri & BM(or sv)/healer should farm us, but for some reason those are the absolute easiest ones to beat.
Tested star vs void scarred and star is not close to being better.
Its going to be tons of melee with lots of micro CC, long cast times, hard to get off, not super high damage. Its void scarred still.
The only way star build will be viable is if stars start doing crazy damage or they change stars to have a faster cast time in pvp and with more range imo.
They perform about the same for me tbh. Granted, only low 1800s.
A hybrid build, gives a nice chunk of burst damage every meta window and makes hard swaps feel better.
whether running a full caster build, or a hybrid with void-scarred I can generally drop a star without much effort. Although star hits like a noodle as void-scarred, its still an extra ~100k going into hunt/slash combo. It certainly hurts.
Running full caster with the long meta, you can maintain it for a long time. If CC’d, it slows fury drain and lets abilities come off CD and is actually better for maintaining meta lol. Caster build into unholy, demo, or bm where there are a ton of targets to get souls from makes for some insane damage with getting several stars off in one long meta.
Generally, I’m trained the first round and win from being slippery, and then the next few matches I’m allowed to essentially free cast. No MS, constant threat from sustain, or spammable CC hurts where it makes it a bit harder to peel and a lot of people randomly get deleted. Especially if your team runs away from our fear or breaks our imprisons
