Devourer is void

After ignoring months of feedback.

Feedback: Devourer Demon Hunters - In Development / Midnight Beta Test - World of Warcraft Forums

Almost 2,000 comments. The criticism and feedback was near unanimous and yet STILL ignored. All we got was ugly new icons that all look identical, some damage tuning (mostly nerfs).

We still have broke talents, bugs, and overly punishing gameplay.

Eg:

Live by the glaive talent: when you parry you can fury and heal (casters cannot parry). Aldrachi design which increases parry chance has the same problem.

Charred warglaives: you heal for 3% of all fire damage you do (devourer does no fire damage)

Infernal armor: immolation aura increases armor by 10% and causes 22 fire damage to attackers. This talent does not work because devourer does not have access to immolation aura.

Wings of wrath: this isn’t devourer exclusive but a 10% increase glide speed talent is nonsense and worthless especially as an endtier. Maybe it would’ve been more worthwhile for a fun/silly build when it was 40% but 10% is nothing.

Low level talent problems. EG you can purchase the talent void metamorphosis at level 15 but cannot use it until level 20.

No survivability: it is one of the squishiest specs in the game. It’s only defensive is blur. It’s self healing is considerably worse then havok. It literally has a spell called soull immolation that damages you (the player using it) like old life tap. So healing a devourer is more annoying than any other spec.

Unless it was a warglaive the weapon you had on your pre-existing DH will not have int on it and so it’s a dead/useless weapon.

Fury drain slows out of combat but the rate of increase is still there. So every second in void meta has a higher costper second. So if you’re out of combat for 10 secodns you go back into combat and you lose void meta much faster than had you stayed in combat. There is also no way to manually end void meta when there would be loads of times it would be optimal to do such especially with this in mind.

Collapsing Star is the most punishing spell in the history of world of warcraft. It takes up time to build up souls in order to cast it. It has a cast time. If the cast fails for ANY reason. This is a massive damage loss of damage because you’re realistically going to be in void meta for 30-45 seconds (max). So if you play the game as intended aka move out of bad you lose significant damage. Or if the enemy dies lose significant damage. The enemy moves .5 yards away lose significant damage. Enemy runs behind you or los? lose significant damage. Get stunned or knocked back? lose significant damage.

This is my biggest beef with the spec right now. For me it wasn’t even that much damage, it was like 4th from the bottom of my meter. And that’s when I could even cast it. Definitely needs a redesign.

Give it some time, you are not 90 yet.

Welcome to Blizzard development, everyone!

i was trying it out when questing yesterday and i literally finished the 10 kill quest before i was able to fully stack metamorphosis once

this spec is completely out of gas. it takes minutes of nonstop hard casting to get going, the generation requirements to actually unlock your powerful abilities are so steep, and the window to use those abilities is incredibly narrow

feels absolutely awful to play

Tried Devourer on the Dummy and on some random mobs for about 20 minutes yesterday. I couldn’t get collapsing star to fire at all. I agree. It seems very punishing.

I went back to Havoc. At least at level 80, Devourer seems unplayable.

Better put the spec back in the oven.

I think its a fundamental design issue. My vote is that the void shards, or whatever, increase the damage of collapsing star by 1% per shard up to 35%. Slap a 20-30 second cd on that bad boy and it will feel way more rewarding and less punishing imo.

to be fair even evoker didnt get ignored on this level. they were still doing things in beta. the moment it went from alpha to beta blizzard said done its perfect and went radio silent. at least evoker was getting changes made and things fixed

Evoker was a full class.

Aug was added later— and all feedback was ignored for that, just like Devourer.

they should also have it so your furry recharges to 100 out of combat or at least 60/70.

also changing talents or zoning should not reset souls and and fury to zero. Pretty sure mana doesn’t work that way

Two thousand voices out of a trivial million players !!! All ignored !!! Another eight thousand and we will have …

ONE TENTH OF ONE PERCENT OF THE COMMUNITY !!!

SCREAM LOUDER !!!

that’s why we’re ignroed until retail.

YOU ARE NOT PREPARED DEMON HUNTER !!!

FIGHT WITH WHAT WEAPONS YOU HAVE !!!

I’ve been leveling a demon hunter for the past hour or so.

It is a rather boring spec pre 90…I assume it gets better. But there is nothing to it, no substance just a few key skills. They need to make WoW more complex not dumb it down.

not all feedback. there was changes and fixes going on. the feedback that was ignored was everyone saying the range feels awful and the transmog options was dumb. pretty much the 2 things people still talk about now. they did ignore how much of a glass cannon dev was till it went live and everyone said it

They should just return Sunder

Was stupid that they removed it in alpha before the masses got to play with it.
