Devourer Hot take

Its not a 2 button spec . its a 4 button spec for me .. consume , reap , void ray and meta …

  • The im enjoying the Void meta phase more ..(you’re pressing the exact same buttons outside of it ffs)

  • Dps feels weak .. (slowly learn to play the spec and gear up before complaining .. need 30% haste to enjoy the spec currently, solo/due delve player dipping into m+

  • Cs issues are mostly fixed in midnight but not currently(tier bonus for 4 pcs for devourer should be the apex talent

  • Ramp is slow .. then why take passive immo ??? why not take basic on use one with the talent to give it 2 charges and extra fury ? So ramp looks like immo , immo , consume , voidray .. on opener ..

How come most complain about playstyle just try to change it over fixing it ?? Like this spec doesnt need to please you to be good .. some people enjoy it currently..

I could go on but DH community needs to come together to fix DH devourer spec ..the playstyle is fixed by blizzard already .. devourer is caster simple rotation or mix of both with slighlty more button bloat ….

If you feedback includes a total change to the class .. pls take it elsewhere .. what we need is buffs and nerfs to make current devourer good in pve n pvp!!!

TLDR : dont mind me just ranting cuz im doing pretty good on a fresh voidelf DH devourer that started on prepatch ….

Because passive immo is way better during meta, when your damage actually matters.

While whether you find the spec fun is somewhat subjective, we can still identify issues the spec has at a basic mechanical level. The fact that Reap has been dropped from the rotation at various points in testing points to the underlying issue that one of DDH’s core rotational abilities doesn’t meaninfully feed into the gameplay loop or advance the objective of getting into and staying in meta. This is not just taste, its a problem at the fundamental design level of this spec.

I don’t think this spec is fatally flawed, but its definitely under-baked and was apparently not QA’d internallly by Blizz because it has situations where you get Void Meta talent at 15, but dont get the skill till 20, or have class talents like Charred Warglaives hanging around still. Its going to get a rework/overhaul in 12.1 and I also don’t think the backloaded damage profile is going to outlast Midnight, going by the trajectory of Shadow post-Legion.

I don’t think the vast majority are saying to throw the baby out with the bathwater, but pretending like this spec doesn’t have issues isn’t doing any service either.

The spec has issues that aren’t just number tweaks, and even if the spec was tuned to be 20 dps less than God himself, it’d still be poorly designed.

Eh, its got good bones that could use tweaks, its not ground up designed bad

Joke’s on you, you don’t press anything but consume on st raid fights.

this was me.. until the hotfix, in which it became a 6 button spec for me

The Spec has grown on me. Once you get past the Initial ramp, it becomes more enjoyable.

The spec is flat out boring. The animations are boring and unsatisfying. It boggles my mind this got signed off and QA tested being that this is the new expansion seems like Blizz is not putting in effort.

Back loaded damage profiles and huge ramp have always been problematic. No matter how balanced it might be over the course of a boss fight, it sucks in the entire rest of the game when you’re doing things like questing, or fighting trash, and such.

Every few years they try it again with come class or another, but it never works. It can’t. It is just too fundamentally at odds with the overall game design. It’s honestly crazy that they even keep trying at this point.

Especially for a squishy spec with garbage sustain, it absolutely cannot afford to wait 12 seconds to start dealing real damage. Your face has already been eaten by then if you’re not grouped with a tank.

Is the active version on GCD? That might make sense for an ability that damages enemies, but the Dev version should definitely be off GCD so you can manage your resources without interfering with your rotation. If it’s supposed to be a tradeoff between finer manual control and the convenience of just killing yourself without effort.

I still think void immo should damage enemies, just limited to ones that are already in combat with you. Self damage on top of losing one of the class’s traditional forms of cleave is a pointless slap in the face for a spec that is so undercooked in so many other ways (including losing ANOTHER of the class’s forms of cleave because thrown glaives have no spellpower scaling).

honestly well said. I struggled to explain how it wasnt the fact that the rotation is simple its that something is wrong with it.

Made me think of the same thing like a shadow priest in bfa

Thats Odd coming from a warrior…Smash with your Left hand, Smash with your Right hand. Do a little Twirl.

consume, consume, consume, consume, consume, consume, consume……

More enjoyable is relative. Like I like the spec, in theory. I see what they’re trying to do with the spec, and I’m here for it.

It kinda feels like a combination of STM shadow priest, Demo caster from MoP/WoD (which was my main from 2004 to 2016, and my most favorite time to be one), and to a lesser extent arcane mage which i was kinda enjoying as well (the feast/famine model of burst windows, mostly)

I worry though that a lot of their “wait-and-see” approach is going to be very rough, because this spec has issues that they really should have addressed months ago in the Beta, but haven’t yet.

I really hope they get it right though. I really really don’t want to play the stupid melee hybrid either, we have havoc for that. But it’s really lookin rough rn.

Havoc is hybrid now ?

Leveling takes a few hours, you’ll get out of Endless Consume spree in no time and forget all about the pain.

Blizz is Beta, it never ends…When Havoc Launched it wasn’t a picnic either.

It’s still consume spam unless in meta even at 80. Consume is the best souls/second out of everything we can do….
