The healing needs to be better in 12.0.5 and more soloability be designed for the class and also, make the class be better for low levels and make it more accessible and approachable and simpler to deal with. And undo the max level design and make it more level by level oriented.
I didn’t know it was possible to make Devourer DH simpler.
Then again I didn’t think it was possible to make TWW BM hunter simpler.
It looks like in .5 passive soul immolation is being moved to an active slot with a 24% heal and basically more direct heals over time, that also reset cd on kill.
It is not that is not simple, it is that it is a spec doesnt actually function…
That’s a good change. Also means soul immolation timing will be part of the rotation in organised content. Maybe timing soul immolations will be a bit more interesting than “press on cd” and mean better play lets you more meta uptime and more total stars.
the change does a lot for over world stuff too. you usually wanna run manual immo to get a jump on fury because nothing really lives long enough outside for the passive to work
it’ll smooth out a lot of wasting your time consume spamming while you’re running around
Anymore simpler and you would be pressing 2 buttons instead of 3
Sounds like in 12.0.5 they’re adding a button back, one it sorely needs.
I would just redesign it if I had control. Make it what Allari was in Legion. The Void spells are pretty, but they never really should have went that path. Make it melee using a polearm instead of glaives.
Also I’d keep collapsing star and just rename it to soul bomb, talent tree would have a choice node referencing DBZ; Give me your energy: Make it rip a bunch more soul frags from the sky as it charges. Pillar of Might(Tree of Might): You gather all your frags into a ball and consume it instead of launching it, gigabuffing you for a little bit.
To be fair, DH were meant as a Hero Class and, as such, they’re not meant to be simple.
… Havoc was simpler when DH came out than it is now.
Thank the gods. Good to know they’re still working on improving Devourer, it needs some polishing - and adding another active button / with overworld survivability is a good start.
Agree with others re: Devourer not being a complex spec (I think OP wasn’t clear when they called it simple). But more could be done to improve the spec re: leveling and gear dependence.
? DH has always been pretty simple outside of optional optimization with stuff like momentum.
There was a time around DF and maybe early TWW when havoc was considered one of the most complex dps classes, with one of the longest and most fiddly openers. I’m glad those days are in the past!
Fair enough. That being said, I don’t play momentum like, ever, so it’s always been a spec I’d consider on the easier side with that in mind.
Better than nothing. I still wish the eyes would auto-change colour on spec change but massive that’s too technically advanced.
It’s a shame that they had to shoot havoc in the face to do that though.
Hero in my opinion means it steps outside the usual boundaries of class design and can do things the others can’t, or tries new things the others haven’t. Evoker added charged abilities and the first ever true Support spec which were both cool changes to classes. Death Knight was a plate wearing, DoT dealing, pet class that also healed through damage while wielding a 2h. DH had incredible mobility and ability to heal through lots of damage and was simple yet complex the deeper into it you got with Meta changing abilities up.
All of them seem very powerful but not so much so they break the game.
Some would say though that Hero just means it starts at a higher level which is also true, and they have more of an epic story arc that ties with the current story specifically.
