Ddh should use polearms and possibly even staves. Glaives on Ddh is just silly and out of place. They’re basically just stat sticks that you just lug around.

Nope, all specs of demon hunter use glaives and it shouldn’t change. All weapons are stat sticks for all casters, nothing new there. Glaives are the weapons that define demon hunters, makes no sense to change that now.

True, but I’d like them more if they used a 1H + off-hand instead of a DW. I think it would give them a clearer caster look, and it’s a weapon combination that nobody uses since all casters go with a staff or a 1h + shield.
Kind of to this topic, why is reap a big scythe? I get with the name reap like grim-reaper.
But when has DH ever been associated with scythes? They just gave scythes do DKs. Just an unused asset?
Maybe because it’s about consuming soul fragments?
That kinda fits thematically with the grim reaper/scythe thing.

If so now I love it, but I find that is a stretch. Idk, i have these awesome glaives on my guys back but no part of my rotation uses it feels kind of lame imo.
I don’t care if they gave void dh polearms staves (staves would look silly though) but that they made it a caster at all. Just let us use our cool weapons in our animations? Look at the new throw glaive animation for devourer and tell me its better that we hide our weapons and grab at the air for our filler instead of that.
Not saying they have to take away glaives. Some players like it. But you can make a way to have polearms and staves work. Take a look at Elden ring, carian sword sorcery, the sword comes from the staff. Take a look at FDK their scythe spawns from their weapon
Since Legion, search for “Allari the Souleater”
According to her, her scythe is a artifact weapon, although not as powerful as ours. Even today, everything indicates that its content was cut and the third DH spec was scrapped. The abilities she displayed in Legion indicate that she was capable of trapping and consuming demon souls.
Interestingly, it matches the artifact weapon that ended up being given to the warlock Affli XD
It seems they decided to revisit the idea but give it a Void twist.
Allari is also the DH ho train de Ren’dorei to be DH and in return, they share their knowledge of the Void with the Illidari.

Let’s put it this way, would you rather have all three specs use glaives where no matter what spec you swap to you don’t have to change your weapons at all? Or would you rather try to get a polearm type weapon that is only usable for one spec, and then have to farm glaives for the other two specs? Yeah…. pretty obvious choice here.

, with the artifact weapons in Legion it was proven that Blizzard can create one item that works as dual weapons, so they should be able to make a single drop give you a pair, why they haven’t done it is beyond me. I call it laziness
DDH using staves would make it just a shadow priest that’s more mobile.
It has to tread a line of being a void themed caster while also being a demon hunter spec. Glaives are important for that.
Also do you want to farm 2 sets of weapons or one that you can use for all specs. No brainer.
If you don’t like seeing the glaives you can mog them to fist weapons and never see them.

Devourer is a new spec, not a new class. DH not weilding glaives would be the stupidest thing ever.

I’m not at home to confirm which weapon type they removed but I’m pretty sure they made it so fist weapons aren’t available to ddh. I do remember seeing they removed a weapon type though.
And farming more then one weapon isn’t a big deal to some people like it is to you. Hunter does just fine, rogue does just fine, druid does just fine.

It would be very weird if they couldn’t use them, because there are int fist weapons, and also the other two specs can use them.
So if you transmogged your warglaives to fist weapons on vengeance or havoc and then switched to devourer would it stop being transmogged? I need to see if i can find a fist weapon in the beta
Edit: According the the discord you can use fist weapons.
