Devour affix

Can dps seriously learn how to dispel themselves ? I’m really tired to play with group who just don’t do anything when all my dispel are in CD then seeing a boss healing themselve on tyrannical making it a 5-6 minutes fight this is INSANE !

Inspect them before the key starts and make sure they have their dispel and make a macro that tells and whispers them to dispel themselves.

You can only control what one player does in a dungeon.

When I’m on a class that has a dispel that is easy to pick up – I always help out.

But if I’m on a spec that has to give up some utility I like for a 3 minute CD that kinda sucks – It’s pretty hard to justify though. I still pop defensives while the DoT is ticking, and try to use my self heals to counter it.

I think they need to do one of the following:

  • Homogenize Dispels so that all dispels can remove the same things
  • Any Dispels available on the talent trees should just be baseline. If they aren’t – they kinda cease to be optional which defeats the purpose of having talent choices.
  • Rework the affix.

I dont think this would have any effect on Devour.

Dispelling devour already behaves like this

Not all healers can easily remove diseases/curses. If they homogenize all dispels – it becomes a lot less difficult for certain healers/classes to deal with the affix.

I am not following.

How?

The affix is not disease/curse. The affix is any dispel. Or just heal it.

It’s not a disease/curse/poison specific.

It’s essentially an “omni” debuff. All dispell types work on it.

I wish Healthstones worked on it :frowning:

Maybe I’m misunderstanding how it works? Was my understanding that not all dispels removed the effect.

Every dispel removes it.

Its also the entire reason poison cleanse totem was nerfed.

They went out of their way to make those and potions not work, which had the side effect of Crimson Vial also being blacklisted.

So everyone else can self heal the garbage, but Rogue specifically is forced to use a 2 min cd on it, which we need on most of these dungeons to not die in the first place.

Opportunity cost means nothing to the idiots designing the affix. A potion should be viable to remove it. It’s a 5 min CD per.

Ahh, yeah then homogenizing the dispels wouldn’t affect this. My bad

Demo Warlocks just straight up don’t have a cooldown or anything for it. Very cool Blizzard.

The way the affix works, its not a big deal if 1 person needs a cleanse/heal assist.

Heck, most of your fellow DPS could even do it for you or you could self heal out of it…

The problem is when nobody is doing it and it all falls solely on the healer

The problem with that is that unlike the other affixes, not every class can handle it.

EVERY class can hit the adds for the clone affix. Some are better at cleave but every class is capable.
EVERY class has access to a CC or purge for the orb affix. Some are better than others, but every class has access to it.
EVERY class can stand in an orb to soak the other orb affix. Some are more mobile than others but everyone can do it.

But with this weeks affix? Play a Warlock (doubly so if Demo), Hunter, Warrior, DPS DK or DH, or Rogue? You’re reliant on everyone else to do the affixes.

Overall I think the Xalatath affixes are pretty good. But I hate, HATE, this affix since it’s by far the most punishing to fail.

I stand corrected. I will continue to not invite Hunters for other reasons.

Understandable.
I’ve seen what some of my kind do. Or don’t, more importantly.

If it makes you feel any better, the average Hunter is still smarter than the average Ret Paladin this season.

I feel like the stupidest ~10% of each class/spec have rerolled Ret at this point, greatly bringing down their average and bringing up everyone elses.
