Hello everyone, I’m not here to complain or anything about this affix I just wanted some clarity on something I’m getting mixed messages from. Is this a straight heal absorb where heals go into the void until its either healed through or cleansed, or am I still healing peoples health? (e.g. dude is at 70% hp and affix goes out and I drop 25% heal - 25% of absorb drops away but he also goes to 95% hp or in the absorb-into-the-void case only 25% of the absorb drops away)
I’m hearing opposing things from different sources and would just like clarity. (Yes I know cleanse it, drop a pct etc)
It’s a small dot that persists until you are healed for 53% of your max hp or dispelled. The danger is not the debuff itself, it is the debuff expiring naturally and healing the mobs.
The graphic looks like a healing absorb and people panic / assume it’s way more dangerous than it is.
you can dispell it.
Edit: There is a post on reddit where you can see abilities that can remove devour.
Hey yes I understand all of those things. I tried to make it as clear as possible. I’m trying to figure out if this is a straight heal absorb as in my heals ONLY go to healing this affix or if it goes towards the affix AND someones missing hp.
Like in the example given above where someone is at 70% and the affix goes out and I drop a 25% heal on them, do they go to 95% hp? or is the 25% only taken out of the affix.
There is no heal absorb at all. So I guess in your wording it goes towards both.

Thank you, on sites like wowhead this affix is listed as a heal absorb and some people explain that this should be cleansed before dropping heals; and then on the other hand I hear that this is NOT a healing absorb and you aren’t in any danger of losing people from having to heal through it.
Pretty sure I specifically said it wasn’t a heal absorb on my guide page, I think I called it a healing threshold or something. Either way I assume it’s not correct on all of them, I can pass that on.
Yeah I see the other one, this is the original I looked at. Sorry!
So are locks cooked this weeks affix since we require imp to burn it off? I don’t think warlocks are having their imp out in mythic+ when they need to contribute to interrupts right? Are we expected to be blowing our health potion and lock stone when we get the dot? It’s not like I needed that for a sticky situation or anything yeah?
No, it’s a 10% maximum health damage over time effect that ticks for 2% every two seconds over ten seconds.
The damage over time effect is removed when healed through or dispelled.
Yes.
Not really, since your selfhealing helps and generally the impact of the debuff is a lot smaller than people are assuming it is. Your healer can very easily just deal with it, as long as they don’t need to deal with all 5 of them.
