Destiny comes with a price and the road to a unknown is never has signs to point you where you need to go. Scars would fade in time physically and memories remember, but a soul carries on time never is friendly.
I feel really conflicted reading your guys’ arguments. I’ve been done wrong by so many people in life and I know holding on to those memories burdens me but also part of not letting go of that is strongly tied to an inner sense of injustice and a need for justice to be met out for those who have done me wrong.
In an afterlife without those burdens I may fare better… but also my experiences in life have definitely shaped me. Makes me question if the person I’ve become is my true self, or if the person I would be without being so damaged is my true self?
Forgetting is also like forcibly forgiving someone who maybe doesn’t deserve to be forgiven… is that good or bad or a mix of both? So much to think about.

Forgiveness is a non-trivial question. On the one hand, forgiving someone who doesn’t deserve it or is clearly unrepentant feels bad. But on the other, holding on to bitterness is like taking poison and expecting someone else to get sick.
I lean towards forgiveness myself, whether they’re worthy or no. It’s liberating.
