What if Blizzard decides to add some other features from Horrific Visions into Devles. Like, instead of a timer, we get a sanity bar or something like that, where it decreases as we stay in the delves and increases if we kill mobs. Also add a talent system like Horrific Visions to devles where we can increase our hp, damage, health regen, and be more tankier. So even caster and healer specs can be as tanky as a tank, and a tank can do lots of damage. We can pick and choose which talents we can, much like our class talent tree.
This forum would literally implode if they’re not allowed to afk during delves.
Please don’t put horrific ideas in their heads…
You have to admit is is pretty fun though
You alright?
Class agnostic resources as a fail condition for content are a good idea, but they don’t need to also be timers to work well.
For example, you could have X sanity and every mechanic that hits you takes off some amount, and if you run out you die. Now tanks can’t just face tank every mechanic and we don’t need 1 shots anymore, the run ends when a player accumulates enough mistakes instead of just when they make a single one large enough to kill them.
Right now the way delves work is as long as you get out of combat you reset to full and nothing you did previously matters, and some classes have disproportionately easier times than others because they’re so tanky they can ignore mechanics.
Sanity makes doing mechanics actually matter.
You are absolutely right. Because it’s casual content for families and friends. Literally advertised as such. And things come up when it comes to families. Kid aggro, elderly parent issues, etc.
Ok but what if sanity didn’t decay out of combat, but mobs did have mechanics that dealt sanity damage if their mechanics weren’t handled properly.
No.
Stop trying to ruin Delves with absolutely horrible crap systems.
I absolutely DESPISED Visions with every fiber of my being and do NOT want my Delves ruined with that TRASH.
What would they even use to count for failure? Sanity makes sense for HV because it’s loaded with cthulu nonsense. Not every delve or story is void based.
So it’s a good thing tanks can ignore all the mechanics in delves and clear them with vastly lower ilvls than advertised?
Idk I would think content being designed around mechanics being able to be outright ignored would be bad design.
Or do people doing delves just not want to have to do mechanics for their gear?
Delves are meant to be adventures, not balls of stress-ridden borrowed power systems that people have to suffer through before it becomes even slightly remotely interesting.
Again… Delves are ADVENTURES. They are meant to have interactions, and that is what we need more of— without systems attached to them.
They can have traps, interactions as we have now, actual puzzles, digging things up to combat enemies within or get around things— without systems attached to them.
This isn’t about mechanics. All mobs have mechanics. All end fights have mechanics. All interactions have mechanics. We don’t need a borrowed power talent system shoved on top of what we already have, just because you think Sanity is somehow a “good” affix.
They could come up with other things that are mechanically the same but thematically different. Ex. A force field to keep you safe from radiation that weakens when you fail a mechanic and strengthens by solving puzzles and opening mislaid curiosities. If the force field drops you have to evacuate.
Then how do we stop tanks standing in everything and generally being immortal / not having to do mechanics in delves?
You can’t have a boss, give it abilities, and then have it make sense for players to not have to deal with those abilities.
I literally just told you. I mean… you read right past it to quote the last part.
All of that can be designed to actually hurt tanks, as well, you know. Such coding does exist.
Sanity is NOT the answer. Stop trying to turn Delves into Visions. Just go play Visions.
visions are better than delves though lol. Its scenarios+ vs world quest+ in horrific visions vs delves. That said I don’t think a timer is the right thing for delves since the mission statement for them is that they are content for the person who might have to step away from the computer during content.
As a thought experiment I’ll just list things that delves could take from visions without taking the timer:
sanity, but there isn’t a passive drain IE you have a secondary health bar that lowers when you get hit by avoidable attacks and you die when it hits 0.
Optional affixes that improve rewards. A mask like system could fit into delves like a glove.
No keys
Horrific vision style bosses instead of busywork objectives ie imagine if we had a delve that had 3 bosses with unique mechanics but less gathering McGuffins.
Optional objectives - horrific visions have side objectives for mogs like the mailbox the optional ways to increase resources and the like, delves in contrast are just sort of clear it and be done with a few side achievements for opening chests one time.
Idk I don’t consider parkour or puzzles combat.
At the end of the day bosses who do things that don’t matter are badly designed.
Hard disagree. And you already have those to play. So go play them and LEAVE DELVES ALONE.
I like most wow solo content, I am naturally going to advocate for the things blizzard does well. Delves have a ton of room for improvement. Visions did too.
