Deviate Delight Fresh - Drama only if you involve yourself

I’ve heard a lot of negativity about the drama associated with Deviate Delight. I have played on the server for a few weeks now and have been having a lot of fun!

There are definitely a few drama queens on the server that get everyone up in arms every now and then, but honestly this is entirely avoidable if you so please. A lot of the “drama” people talk about only shows up on streams and in “streamer guilds”. If you just level up, dungeon group with others, join raid teams that are establishing, then its all great!

Simple solution to avoid drama. Do not interact with those who are causing drama. Ignore the streamer (Literally put them on your ignore list), there is literally nothing people can do that hasn’t been done before. Afraid of being camped for endless hours? Guess what, that happened/happens on every WoW server in the history of the game. Log out and come back later.

TL:DR - Deviate Devight is a blast, the only drama happens if you listen to the doom and gloom sayers. Just have fun and play the game.

I’ve heard there is a bit of drama on the Horde side. Haven’t seen any, on the Alliance side. Not sure what about though. Streamer guilds always end up having drama, just the nature of how it works I suppose. I can’t attest to any other guilds, but Refresh Too is drama free.

I just decided instead of wading through streamer nonsense, to go to an established server for my shaman. Might give alliance side a try, or even horde side again, but those first 2 hours for any server/MMO are so important to your connection to your character. Having it be 2 hours of trying to sift through drama llamas feels so much worse than the other 100 hours you’ll be playing after.

Edit to add: Especially because I wanted to get back into RP server community I used to love. Setting up a roleplay story for my shaman and getting excited to get back into an adventure and journey, to just be hit with stream stuff, gross.

So I have only been on DD “Fresh” for about 2 weeks now, as Alliance. My understanding is there was a horde guild that went ahead of the proposed phase raiding schedule agreed upon by the DD community. I think thats about all of it.

I just keep my head down and play the game.

Streamers are the gaming world’s equivalent to Underpants Gnomes.

  1. Cause Drama

  2. Increase Views

  3. ?

  4. Profit

If I had a list of every streamer all of them would be on ignore.

When the shiny wears off those streamers will go somewhere else and DD will be a nice little RPPVP server to play on. I’m not concerned about it and am very good at ignoring most of what is going on in chat, so lol. I’ve had positive experiences, been good Horde and Alliance.

I think the creators of the “fresh” movement trying to make the server conform to player-made rules was a mistake that ultimately did more harm than good.

Its literally never happened to me on a PVE server.

Meanwhile its hoppin and SoD isnt.

As a Retail player watching all this go down:

You really took the time to come to these forums and talk smack? Lol okay guy

I enjoy the seemingly never-ending drama lol, just here to watch.

Am I talking smack? I’m just enjoying the show lol.

I love Classic, but drama like this is why I couldn’t stay with it.

Crazy egos over a 20-year-old, ancient, game.

Agreed, it’s probably my biggest gripe where all the people in the “fresh” guilds are trying to enforce these arbitrary “rules of the server”, they will literally get you banned from the discord and blacklisted if they catch you in ZG, and lets not forget all the drama that came from people trying to branch off and make their own raiding guild. It’s like they want to live out this pathetic delusion of being the “authority” of the server. Like always, human beings having the tiniest amounts of power go to their heads.

If Retail was so fun, and if you could not stay with Classic because of the drama, then why are you intentionally feasting on Classic drama? Something isn’t adding up here.

I think that you do like Classic because of the drama, but you are afraid of being in the thick of that drama.

So you stand on the outside where you can pretend to be “better” by playing Retail, a version of the game that doesn’t have a lot of drama. Watching others drama in a “20-year-old, ancient, game” this inflates your own ego. Basically, you watch it so you can look down on others and feel better about yourself. This is the obvious reality by the way you post.

Also, this thread doesn’t have much popcorn as of right now, so it must not take a lot for you to pull out the bucket.

I’m just watching videos on YouTube about it, and Retail has very little drama these days.

Yeah, that’s true.

I don’t have to contend with ninja looters and stuff in Retail, though.

The drama is literally some folks trying to hold the server hostage because they felt betrayed or whatever, something stupid I’m sure- it’s just entertaining to watch grown men act like kids lol.

Classic/Vanilla is timeless, Retail is simply not.

That being said, I just can’t stick to one old game for years, I have to move on because I’d get bored.

I was still around during the 2019 re-release, but gaming as a whole has changed and GDKPs being prevalent kinda ruined it for me. Couldn’t stick to the endgame like I originally had during Vanilla.

No one played actual Vanilla like that, the true ‘feeling’ of Vanilla is gone in Classic.

If there was an actual Classic+ that wasn’t SoD, I might still be around.

Even then, it won’t feel the same- established meta might kill it on the first day.

Retail offers new content all the time, and I’ll be in the next expansion for sure.

To me, it’s the less boring of the two WoW’s. Just my own opinion, of couse.

I like pet battle, and collections. Not just farming and raid logging.

Also, I enjoy PvP, and Retail just offers a lot more in regards to PvP content.

There’s just “more to do”. Also a sense of discovery, can’t re-discover what you already know.

Thanks for admitting that.

I’ll personally admit that one of the parts I find interesting about Classic is the drama. I overall like the social dynamics. You can play through “Classic” and each time is different because the people make it that way.

Saying that, I find that a lot of the stuff from streamers is over the top and done for clout or just attention/viewers in general. I like the organic stuff, that gets little attention, more. I’m not playing on DD right now and I don’t tend to watch a lot of WoW content so I have no idea what’s going on there.

When I came back to Classic 2019, I didn’t think I’d find an experience like Vanilla (as a release player) but it was close enough for me to suck me back in. I do think my being in an end-game raiding guild in Vanilla helped with that. GDKPs I know are on Era and they were in Classic 2019 but I just stuck with a guild, so that felt similar enough, outside of knowing how the raids would go (and therefore being easier) and the 1.12 talents

People can like what they like, if you find the Retail gameplay overall to be more engaging that’s fine. I also try Retail with each expansion and have done the pet battling and collecting and general playing. Retail, to me, just feels more like a single-player game with a group lobby than an MMORPG, but I appreciate it for still being there after almost 20 years, and I’m glad that the Classic versions are here too.

That’s not a good thing, it means that people don’t care about retail. I can only speak for myself but haven’t cared about who is clearing what or how the PVP scene is for a bunch of years, it isn’t the same as it used to be.

Pretty cringe when you think about what the average age of the players is.

Makes you realize that at least 50% of “Vanilla” was really about the people, and the culture of MMOs and WoW at the time. Bunch of things people do now that were either unheard of or taboo in “Vanilla”.

Definitely.

Streamers are dumb, the whole concept is ridiculous and I don’t get it. I am apparently a “boomer”, but a bunch of people watching someone else do stupid stuff in games for 12 hours a day has to be a low point in gaming and society lol.

It’s cringe, but it’s entertaining. Like a train wreck.

I won’t lie, lol.

I loved Vanilla (although TBC was truly my favorite), I have this Argent Dawn tabard from TBC launch that I’m never taking off.

Also have a ZG tiger, I farmed it every day, religiously lol.

I want Retail players to know I still liked the old stuff, but I’m around for the new stuff too.

I rarely see vets, most old-school WoW players just fully play Classic.

It’s just a different-feeling game to me, than it was back then. Different experience today. Everyone has figured out everything.

I’d love to forget everything so I could experience it all again.

Yeah… I don’t get it either.

I think the worst part is when people who never play Classic WoW for example form all of their opinions based on what they see on these streams/youtube videos. Who then come here and parrot whatever they heard, where things are stated by them as facts for the entire Classic player base. Especially when they then refuse to listen to the reality from those who aren’t just chasing attention/money.

If a person realizes that a lot of what happens with the “drama streamers” is like acting and if they get entertainment from that then it’s ok I guess, it’s not my thing though.
