What I got now it’s a system to prevent valor runs.
I will never understand why they gatekeep gear so hard in this game. Who cares if WQ players get Mythic quality gear, everyone wants to get better gear lol. You should be able to get Mythic quality gear in all forms of content, but they are obsessed with making sure everyone stays as low ilvl as possible.
This is so convoluted and ridiculous. lol
Is this a troll Blizzard?
A lot of people get angry if Blizzard doesn’t so… Doesn’t bother me much. I prefer exploring and just something to do.
Which, to be fair, was a stupid system. Why should a 2500+ player spam run M2s?
This is an RPG.
Kills monsters to get gear.
Use Gear to kill bigger monsters.
Kill Bigger monsters to get better gear.
And so on.
So, unless I’m wrong…does this mean I can farm LFR and +20s to get a mythic level Whispering Incarnate Icon? (Or some other equivalent piece.) Guess Blizzard really does want raiding dead.
You know this is awfully close to April Fools day.
Blizzard, did you possibly mean to publish this next month?
We sure have come a long way from
Boss dies —> get loot
No, only gear obtained at a starting ilvl of 428 (heroic raid or +17 M+ dungeon) can be upgraded to 441 (mythic ilvl).
Looks a little cumbersome having double-gating on the upgrades (base item only upgrades X times from ilvl where it started and then a second upgrade reagent also tied to different content difficulties).
Was it decided that that farming of low-end content to upgrade high-end items was creating issues?
( I guess that’s sort of addressed in the comment about opportunity costs, i just don’t quite follow it clearly )
Can’t wait for the upgrade that can fail and destroy your item feature, with a cash shop token that prevents total destruction in case of failure.
Now It is
Boss Dies → Get Loot.
But Also get Stuff to Upgrade the Loot you already have.
Yep. Huuuuuge distance.
So one of the justifications given in the Essay is this.
"Yes. This system is a more expansive upgrade path that applies to all maximum-level activities. With the old Valor system, your raid nights weren’t helping you progress with your gear. And the raid gear couldn’t be upgraded at all! With this system, you won’t pay an opportunity cost of potential gear upgrades by splitting your time between raiding and running keys."
So… why not just have everything drop valor, and contribute to the rating used to determine what you can spend valor on?
Why must you always take the most convoluted path?
Where does it say that in the above article? The whole thing seems really convoluted to me, so I may have just missed it.
It’s the table that showcases the upgrade paths. You’ll notice that ilvl 441 is Hero 5/5, so only items on the Hero upgrade track can go that high, which is anything whose starting ilvl is 428 or higher.
To simplify:
- An item’s starting item level determines its upgrade track (Explorer, Adventurer, Veteran, Champion, Hero)
- Explorer items can be upgraded to ilvl 398.
- Adventurer items can be upgraded to ilvl 411.
- Veteran items can be upgraded to ilvl 424.
- Champion items can be upgraded to ilvl 437.
- Hero items can be upgraded to ilvl 441.
It’s pretty safe to say if you have to write 3000 words to describe your loot system things are getting a little out of hand.
3000 Words later, you still Kill Bosses to get loot.
And you also get stuff to Upgrade your loot.
That’s not how it works.
Oh, gotcha. I was looking on mobile, so I didn’t realize the table had another column, my bad. Do we know what ilvl corresponds to what raid tier? Is 428 normal or heroic ilvl?
