They’re basically identical to Titan Matrices, up to and including their ability to be reagents for crafting. These ones are reagents to craft more crafting reagents (I am not joking).
So yeah, they replaced Valor with five different items to put in our bags.
For a system that is intended to reduce the number of currencies, this is remarkably complex. I appreciate all the thought that went into this, I especially like the part about upgrading raid gear, but it feels overly complicated for WoW.
EDIT: After re-reading, I really like the system; however, I’m not looking forward to explaining it to my guildies that won’t read this blog post.
I just saw the latest MMO Champion post and I HAD to run to the forums.
First off I’ll say that it’s actually quite hilarious. I spent a good part of my day yesterday thinking about how I miss the old Valor system in MoP, wishing I could keep playing and give myself the chance to upgrade the gear I already had. I day dreamed about how awesome it felt to keep continuing to build my power.
Now I read this post today and instantly I say hell yeah! Bring it on! I’ll get to reading the rest of the notes for 10.1 but yeah. You devs need to know from me that you’ve got a huge thumbs up from me! XD
This seems Very thought out.
I hope you can earn Crests at a reasonable rate for doing Just Mythics, or Just Raids.
But I love the cheaper upgrades to replace slots you already have filled.
I don’t understand these takes.
You Do Endgame content to Earn stuff to upgrade your gear.
But if you want to Upgrade to Normal Raid Quality, you need to do something that’s at least Normal Raid difficulty.
If you want to upgrade to Heroic Raid Quality, you need to do something that’s at least Heroic raid difficulty.
That’s not very complicated.
Even on the First Week though the “cap” is 10 Crests of each difficulty.
In one Week, are you going to need to upgrade your gear over 40 times?
Yeah I don’t get why raid gear couldn’t just have levels and be upgraded with valor, and have raid bosses drop valor(maybe like 500 per boss kill). And then just go by achievements for requirements to upgrade. Like to get to heroic ilvl, you need X heroic kills or something like that, similar to M+ ratings but for raids. Each boss could give you X raid points and have the same kind of tier system for upgrading.
It seems you took a simple system and over complicated it
They are just talking about how long it would take to farm enough “Flightstones” currency to upgrade pieces from one level to another. That’ll cost more to upgrade in the higher ilvls, and you’ll get less from doing easier content. Using their examples
It’ll take 3-5 Mythic keystone dungeons to farm enough Flightstones to upgrade an item from 402-424. Or 10 Normal Dungeons to upgrade a 428-441. You’ll still need the other currency to upgrade it though, and you won’t be able to upgrade a 402 to 441, there are caps for how many times an item can be upgraded some unknown asinine reason.
That is what I want clarification on, because they clearly stated otherwise by mentioning running 10 NORMAL dungeons to get up to 441 gear. I just want to know what that means or if that was a mistake.
Yeah I’m seeing it now and while I would have love to see Heroic dungeons actually having a point again, I don’t think Blizzard will throw me any kind of bone so I don’t believe it’s anything but a Typo.
See but that doesn’t make sense either. If you get a 428 gear, which seems to be higher then a M3-5, you just run 10 NORMALS to upgrade it further, and not run any more M+?
To upgrade apiece of gear above 428 you’ll need Flightstones and Crests. This example was just about Flightstones. You can get Flightstones from all content. It’s like right now Valor you can get it from any keystone level, you just get more from higher keys, so you can do 10 normal dungeons if your crazy to get enough Flightstones. You won’t however be able to upgrade the 428 piece with just Flightstones, you’ll also need the Crests and the Crests only drop from specific difficulties.
