I FINALLY leveled a DEV Evoker to 80. Pretty fun and and generally good all around PVE. A nice change in play style. In PVP i find it a different story. I play mostly world/EPICS pvp, and i find my DEV has good dps, and general utility, BUT the 25 yard range forces you to be in (almost) melee range. Now I under stand the “niche” area range idea, but it puts extra stress on the play style and i know it will burn me out eventually. Maybe some folks like it, thats cool. But its certainly a unique character/spec. I cant speak on Aug or Healer spec yet.
The 25 yard range is becoming more questionable as time goes on.
Especially when specs like BM hunter, Fire Mage, and Frost mage exist with no range penalty and unlimited or near-unlimited mobility.
The idea is to keep up hover and keep that 25 yard range constant.
Yes, and i suppose some may dig that play style. And with some experience, be happy with it. but it is indeed a niche
Yeah, took me a while to get it down but once I did, I fell in love with the spec and class. With all the instant cast and constant mobility, it is just love.
I just wish we had stronger defense and heals since we have to get so close.
Between Renewing Blaze and 2 charges of 40% DR, Devastation has incredible defenses.
Though what I found out is playing with the 25y Evoker range is actually a good thing. It helps break bad habits like playing all the way out in Africa because a DPS player at 40~45 yards is often too far away for group healing.
Yup, when I figured out how to slowly rotate my hover charges with deep breath, I hardly get touched. When I do, I pop a heal and renewing blaze and the scales. I’ll heal up and hover some more and stay away from damages. Melees can’t get me, not ground effects.
Welcome to the party. No one actually likes it, but you can get used to it. With time and effort.
I mean, I like it.
It surprised me how good it actually is. Crate fights its great. Its just in BGs its a unique play style you either love or hate
That’s honestly exactly like saying you like being nearsighted.
More like, I like the idea of being in a melee like magic zone.
