So far I love where Devastation is regarding AoE, I feel like Devastation has always had really strong AoE and right now ours feels amazing, but the single target dps seems to fall off pretty hard.
I might dunk on an Arcane Mage in AoE but come boss time I am getting my dps doubled by them. I realize that Devastation is ranked C tier and Arcane is A tier (according to icy-veins)
Does it just seem low because Bombardments for some reason attribute their damage to other players?
inb4 the usual suspects just come tell me im bad - I play my other 2 80’s and do reasonable well versus my guildmates both AoE and single target around where I see them doing on those classes (Arcane and Ret in my example) so the same player playing other classes performs where you might expect based on spec, but then Devastation single target falls off pretty hard.
Or do I just need to chill out and wait for proper gear and tier for it to balance out?

You’re not bad (well maybe you are idk) so much as you’re worrying about damage way too early.
Devastation gets one of the largest DPS boosts from both 2 and 4pc of any DPS spec. With 4pc we are like top 3 in single target sims (albeit VERY early data, but still–dev is fine).
DPS tier lists are an absolute meme and are just there because they’re easy clickbait.
Comparing DPS numbers when we’re limited to heroic/renown gear and 590 crafted in content where nothing lives more than a few seconds is an exercise in futility.

I have the same feeling but right now arcane is broken. Besides the season 1 hasn’t started yet so I wouldn’t worry right NOW.
I was checking the forums for this topic specifically. Really feel like my ST DPS is own the tubes compared to last Season in DF
Kind of to be expected when you lose a super strong tier, you’re not tuned as powerfully to begin with, you have preseason expansion levels of stats, and you don’t have a legendary.
It will be fine as the season progresses.
When those tier lists were made, Icy Veins did not have access to Devestation’s sims because they didn’t exist yet. That just came out VERY recently. Now that we have preliminary information, devastation (at ilvl 639) is not that far behind arcane in a perfect scenario. We’re talking a ~80k dps difference. As it stands now, we’re in the top 10 of dps specs that currently have sims.
However keep in mind that a large majority of specs are still lacking sims, so we may rise or drop depending on where those specs land. But all in all, I’m pretty confident we’ll remain above average.
