Is…is it really almost a one button rotation spec?
My Godzilla beam is literally like 60% of my damage and I’m usually like #7 in raids with meh gear.
Like is this how it is?

I mean…you deep breath, fire breath, shattering star into enteral surge and just godzilla beam as SC. 5 buttons but I mean, a lot of specs kinda become simple once you just get down to the brass tax. Playing my arms warrior right now and it is basically just pressing two buttons and refreshing bleeds and waiting on bladestorm.
Depends.
Scalecommander damage funnels almost all of its damage into buffing Disintegrate and before hero talents, that was still true. On AoE, disintegrate and pyre would both be on the high end.
Flameshaper changes it up a bit where you won’t even see Disintegrate on your damage breakdown outside of pure single target but in overall it gets drowned out by pyre and firestorm (oh wow, firestorm got buffed enough to do damage).
That is probably cos your raid sucks…Devastation not so hot right look at the dps chart
? They’re doing very well. Not s tier but very much B tier, probably A.
They’re doing very good on the charts.
I don’t know how long you’ve been playing, but many classes in this game rely on two or three main abilities for their damage, along with various instant-cast spells.
Devastation evoker fits perfectly within the diversity of ranged classes. If you’re looking for more button, you can always play rogue or feral.
It’s neither particularly good nor bad. It has some flaws, sure, but honestly, there are far worse.
In wow middle of the chart is not doing weĺl, especially your other option is Aug…
But it isn’t in the middle, it’s upper middle. Also, being in the middle is very well in wow. Don’t let forum or youtubers fool you into thinking being middle of the pack means dog water.
This is the fact, right here! If you enjoy it, you perform well with it, and it lists as middle of the pack (if that’s important to you), you should play it. Middle of the pack means it does what it’s supposed to do well enough, and also should not expect to be nerfed (often the middle of the pack specs get buffs, even).
Now if you enjoy Aug, I’d honestly have to ask “but how much do you enjoy it really” because it’s the one spec that currently truly does suck. Even by quick napkin math the 15% they’re getting soon isn’t nearly enough of a change to cover the discrepancy between them and even the next lowest DPS.
Devastation is only number 15 week 2 undermine on wowhead out of 26 spec. Dropec 5 places from last week, not looking good
As long as a class allows you to complete all content and you enjoy playing it, its ranking doesn’t really matter. What truly matters is having fun.
Most players don’t care about pulling massive numbers or competing for world first like top guilds—that’s only a small minority.
Honestly, the Devastation spec is great for most of the available content, whether you’re a casual player or more experienced.
And, if we go by what influencers, pro players, and websites say, dk for raid and demo for mm+ would be uninteresting and not very useful—when in reality, that’s completely false.
Wrong.

You do know it is because evokers aren’t played much at all, right? It isn’t because of damage but because it is one of the least played class in general.
But share the website you’re using for these facts
Bingo bungo!
This is the fact here. I run Dev (because Aug sucks badly and I don’t want to have to be carried) and it’s very pretty good. They land upper-middle of the pack for overall DPS output among DPS specs, which is in my opinion the sweet spot. Upper middle means your contribution’s worthwhile, you’re not having to be carried, but also you’re not OP which means you shouldn’t expect to be nerfed. Upper middle is a safe bet. Will there be better DPS out there? Yeah, fire mage and BM hunter didn’t go anywhere. But also the specs higher up are significantly more likely to catch a nerf.
Basically my rule of thumb is I don’t play a spec if it’s bottom 25% unless I really dig playing it. Dev very much is not bottom 25%. Aug is literally the worst there is (or damn near it), but that’s also why I soft suggest people avoid it until Blizz formulates something resembling a finalized plan for the spec.
No. It’s not. and that is likely why you’re #7 instead of top 3.
