Devastation or Augmentation? Which is easier to learn?

Hello, I made this character a couple weeks ago and found it pretty overwhelming to learn a spec, given how you start off with so many talents and spells. But, I spent a lot of my 60-70 leveling as preservation and picked up on it eventually and have just now started to do some keys. I enjoy preservation, but sometimes I want a break from healing and want to dps, but now, as a okay geared 70, I feel even MORE overwhelmed to learn how to evoker dps. So I am asking the evoker community, which of the 2 is easier to pick up and play? I don’t care about mythic raids, or +15’s and up, or pvp AT ALL…just LFR, maybe some normal raiding, and like…level 10 mythics with friends.

If you don’t care about these things, I’d recommend devastation.

Playing Aug to a decent degree makes you incredibly reliant on the performance of others, as well as your ability to analyze logs (to maximize while raiding) and understand/track the cd windows of the other DPS specs in the game.

In the content you’re doing, the DPS players are not going to reliably do enough damage or hold cd’s to synergize with yours.

Devastation is relatively simple in terms of the skill floor to do decent damage, and while there’s some nuance and skill expression if you really want to min/max it, you can still be very effective without worrying about being too sweaty if you’re not into that.
