Devastation at the very least could use defy fate. Like, c’mon. Or some sort of burst interaction with Breath of Eons that an above poster mentioned? Instead of an absorb, maybe a huge heatwave.
Blistering scales would honestly do very little outside of a few AOE phys mechanics and things like the random target shooting mobs in SOB-type thing.
It would be fine for soloing, I suppose, but we already have stupid amounts of armor and scales provides nothing else.
I’d rather see something like SoM be improved to give us a portion of the healing from whoever it was on, or give us an extra flat DR for having it up. Maybe even a shield for a % of our HP every time we restore mana via using empowers.
Then we get defensive value from choosing a group talent.
I was thinking more about putting it on someone else to help the team with a physical mechanic. Like the tentacle slam in siege of boralas for example. But yeah I do agree with your take. Magic damage is much more potent.
For the next issue (and a much bigger elephant in the room in my opinion)… the damage it provides will only be attributed in the logs.
Thinking more on this, anything that requires damage to be attributed back to the evoker should stay out of devastation’s kit. We were lucky enough that details fixed this with bombardments, albeit with an exception.
